Attempted Cat theft
Discussion
Some bugger cut part way through my car exhaust in a failed Car theft attempt.
Was trying get it to work and then to the garage when it broke in two resulting in the AA towing the car
Now I need a whole new mid section.
Gits.
Fun part is my cat is part of the exhaust manifold, nowhere near where the hacked sawed

Yup, bad typing by me.
Still fuming over this hacksaw debacle.
Its a crap 15 year old shed, why do it to a car like this?
Precious material value stands if new or old I guess, easier to explain as from parted out old car not commonly targeted too, perhaps was just ability to access it or had more of the stuff in it.Still fuming over this hacksaw debacle.

Why do it to a car like this? It's because the half wits who engage in this don't value their own vehicles and treat them as disposables. They don't understand that someone might run a vehicle that has more practical value as a working vehicle than it's apparent low monetary value.
Can see it all the time round here, especially with the caravan crowd. s
tbox, no tax etc, parked out of the way during day, disappears late evening for a night of whatever nefarious activity they get up to, back by morning, filthy, various bits of greenery hanging off it, frequent battle scars. Something happens, disappears, another s
tbox in its place for a couple of weeks, more filth, greenery, battle scars. Rinse repeat. They need locking up.

Full new exhaust from cat back on the car.
When the exhaust fell and dragged, it also kinked the pipe on the back box as well, so the failed cat stealers broke both sections of the exhaust
I could get it done cheaper elsewhere, but that would not get done until late next week or week after.
But I need a car now.

Personally, I think the welding approach is going to be cheapest/best.
If time is of the essence, run it without the CAT, until you can get it sorted properly.
If memory serves, older cars have more precious metals in the CAT, if you replace, you could probably sell your CAT and recoup some of the cost.

Just some ideas for making do now or cutting the cost as sounds like cat still present and they cut it mid section.Full new exhaust from cat back on the car.

I have had someone straighten exhaust before, that wasn't at all rusted so went well, unsure about yours but presume reasonable if kinked and not crumbled at contact with road, I also drove another which was pretty much exhaust sections and clamps front to back box in the end and never got round to new exhaust as it got stolen.

I've had a car exhaust welded, but it was 10 years ago and worth doing because the part was over a grand, if available.
I paid £50 for the welding then.
Online automotive have the middle and back for under £100 each.
But I last changed a car exhaust myself in about 1991 and have no intention of DIYing this sort of thing without a proper ramp etc.
Maybe shop around a bit more?
