Paid out of court settlement late
Discussion
Hi all,
I recently transferred ownership of a car from my dad to myself. The car was SORN and I changed ownership via the V5 process. I didn't realise that I had to redeclare the car as SORN (This is completely my fault). I went away for several months and had a number of letters from the DVLA. The most recent one is an out of court settlement for £80 accompanied with a notice that I must pay by December 26th or face court action. I accept that I broke the law so paid this immediately this morning. Can anyone shed any light on where I stand, given that I have now paid the fine? Will I still face court action?

I would like to think there may well be a "grace" period before they start action to cover the possibility of slightly slow payments, but ultimately the only people likely to know will be DVLA.I recently transferred ownership of a car from my dad to myself. Rather than asking t'interwebz your time would be put to better use by phoning them.

Will probably be ok, and at worst shouldn't result in you having to go away for a few months again I recently transferred ownership of a car from my dad to myself. I don't think the op has ignored anything- it would though be advisable if you are away for some time to ensure post is forwarded or monitored.
Learnt my lesson with this one (and that you need to re-update a SORN if a vehicle changes hands) and will get all my post opened for me if going away for extended periods in the future!I don't think the op has ignored anything- it would though be advisable if you are away for some time to ensure post is forwarded or monitored.
