The Met (often rightly) take a lot of stick, but great to see this type of policing: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/uk-68003783

I'd be tempted back in if I could do this type of work wink

You would be surprised how much actually does take place that you don't know about.

Excellent work, just waiting for a poster to come along and say ‘why was he tasered, he was running away. That officer should be investigated!’ or something similar.

I saw this on the daily mail this morning, it's got a breakdown of each and everyone of them there.

London is in downfall when you have groups of four clueless kids with a chip on there shoulders doing this stuff.

Trouble is sending this lot down won't make any difference, they'll go inside, get wiser and a bigger "status" as a criminal and come out doing more of it.

Interestingly, there was a programme on telly last week where a journalist met up with some of these watch thieves in London. It all got a bit scary when one of them showed her the gun he was carrying!

Obviously it boiled my p1ss, so I was delighted to see this counter offensive by the BiB today. Good work fellas!

I'll be that person smile

Not sure they are 'supposed' to use it in those circumstances when they are running away and after all that good work the last thing we want is that cop getting into bother, but hopefully he squeezed the trigger as the robber was running towards him and it simply didn't cause him to fall until after he had ran past him, though it does have instant effect, regardless it is great to see. Quite brave of the undercover cops too, seeing as the robbers could have knives/machetes etc?

Why do you think Taser can't be used on someone running away?

In UK policing, Taser is a lower use of force than PAVA and baton strikes.

How many of these robberies have involved a weapon or threat of a weapon?

I would imagine it is because they are not massive soft cocks and prepared to do something about violent crime instead of questioning every decision (and in most cases with zero knowledge or experience) from the luxury of a computer chair

They are the lowest level of force, but they can only be used for an identified threat and not to gain compliance when somebody isn't doing what they have been told to do. Running away when told to stand still might not be a proper use.

Deploying it in anger or frustration because someone is getting away wont wash if he's investigated following a complaint of unreasonable force. But if the cop thinks that person has a weapon and is then going to cause harm, or thought he was running towards one of the other plain clothed cops to harm them, then that should suffice. The devil will be in the detail of the cops evidence, a smart cop will know his subject matter and hopefully wont be an issue.

I'm not saying I don't think he should have deployed it, Id like to see them all tasered, i'm saying that the cop could get into trouble if during an investigation by armchair colleagues it's decided he didn't use it properly, and I wouldn't want that.
