What an idiot. Instead of fines, and if enough points, a driving ban, he gets 12 months in jail. The repercussions for this will be immense for him, if thy haven't already. frown

Interesting that there's a fair bit of time between the first two somewhat piffling offences and the latter somewhat less piffling.

I wonder if the first were genuine errors so he tried a clever wheeze but having seemingly got away with it he got greedy?

Title is wrong.

Clearly an idiot who probably won't learn even after time in jail. Deserves all he got.

I don't condone what he did, but...

'officers were able to prove he was the driver of the vehicle by using the car's built-in GPS, cell site analysis from his mobile phone and ANPR

- we sometimes forget how much Big Brother is watching our every move.

Or how much they'll do to prove a speeding conviction but get assaulted for example, "sorry there's no CCTV, nothing we can do".

Or burgled, or mugged, or any number of other more serious crimes.

The guy deserves what he got but I've lost all faith in the police.

Yet the prisons are full of people for robbery, burglary & violence offences.

We wonder though how much police time was spent piecing together all the evidence in what was, in the grand scheme of things, a triviality,

But as they say, 'If you're not doing anything wrong there's nothing to worry about'.

Still, as Britain's roads fall apart 'speeding' will be a thing of the past anyway. How they must rage as the average speed cameras spend hours clocking thousands and thousands of cars at 5mph; all that investment wasted...

The speeding was in the grand scheme of things a triviality, but he turned it into something far more.
He chose to speed in the first place, knowing the penalties & then he decided to Pervert the Course of Justice & the penalties for that.

Incorrect “click bait” title.

Nobody got jailed for speeding but I suppose “MAN JAILED FOR PERVERTING THE COURSE OF JUSTICE” doesn’t have the same moral outrage about it.

Indeed, but don't let facts get in the way.

This. Just shocking waste of resources. My limited understanding of the law however would lead me to believe there has been an industrial scale perverting the course of justice in the Post Office whereby post masters were prosecuted and jailed for something they didn’t do. Not aware of any criminal investigation going on into this

How many hours and how many officers did it take to achieve this? And how many crimes against people and their properties were ignored whilst they were doing this?

I imagine the checks on ANPR hits were minutes, and due to the claims it was cloned, and checking his phone and cars GPS were likely in that order, and peanuts in dedicated officers time.

I'm actually amazed he thought he could get away with it, curious how he took it, and how much he now wishes he'd just admitted it, or failed to furnish instead.

Keen's black Mercedes CLA 45 was recorded speeding on four occasions:

- 16/11/21 at 8.51pm, 65mph in temporary 50mph zone of M27 eastbound near Swanwick

- 19/11/21 at 9.53pm, 64mph in temporary 50mph zone of M27 eastbound near Swanwick

- 17/9/22 at 6pm, 87mph in 70mph limit of M27 westbound near Fareham

- 7/10/22 at 9.03am, 103mph in 70mph limit of M27 eastbound near West End.
65 & 64 in Temp 50, then 87M and 103MPH on M27..

up, UP, UP! and Away.. A bit predictable tbh.

I think increasing your speed to over 100MPH at 9AM, then claiming it was Cloned attracts just a bit more attention than normal...

Its not clear if he claimed it was cloned each time, or just for over 100MPH?
