Good.

Make the sentences harder, crack down and get out and to the same to other crimes.

I think it was earlier in the week on LBC with Nick Ferrari when he stated something like 3/4 of the MET haven't arrested anyone in a year!

Well I'll go against the grain and say it looks pathetic. Police sneaking around on buses with their little cameras. This is not a priority. And don't moan about lack resources when you're so proud of yourselves about this 'clever' new ploy.

It's a terrible idea. What a waste of precious human resources. They could just upgrade cameras on the roads to add AI capability to automatically detect the same offence.

I bet you'd moan about a highly expensive and controversial AI enforcement camera system too!

But it wouldn't ever be AI enforcement, it would be AI selecting candidate images/video for review by a human who then chooses.

Motorists are an easy target, they must have money as they drive a vehicle, so let's milk them a bit more.

Far easier than attending the scene of crime such as burglary or even car theft, when Norfolk Constabulary merely hand out a crime number to pass on to one's insurer.

Its so strange. I see many throbbers in new cars using their phones and they are the type of cars to have bluetooth, yet they persist in holding a phone to their ear.

If the law wants to work it need exponential penalties:
1st offence - 6 points, £200 fine
2nd offence -12 points £2,000 fine, 1 month in jail
3rd offence - 12 points £20,000 fine 6 months in jail

Make the subsequent penalties so harsh that most normal people avoid them and let's call the fines "priority fines" so that you don't get your licence back until you've paid the fine off in full, whether that is in 1 day or 30 years.

Not really new… were they not riding around in trucks a while ago for the same purpose?

The biggest problem are the fktards you see drifting across lanes on the motorway as they have the phone their lap and are looking down whilst texting. I see dozens of people on any motorway journey.

FTFY - in principle though, I agree.

Well motorists that use their phone certainly are, and they've chosen to make themselves the easy target, so they can't really moan can they? It's the perfect stupidity tax. Funny how I've managed to drive hundreds and hundreds of thousands of miles without being 'milked' in this way if I'm such an easy target. Oh hang on, it's because I'm not a fking moron that does stuff that I know full well is illegal like using my phone while driving.

Wasn’t that “3/4 of the MET haven’t been arrested this year”?

if the fines made enough to pay more police to chase burglars then its a good thing , but yeah i guess theyre doing this rather than chasing robbers and rapists

+1

Good.

It really pisses me off when I see people fking about with their phones while driving. Anyone who has to share the roads with these idiots should be pleased that the police are doing more to catch them.

Anyone who cares about driving standards should be pleased at this.
