Curiosity post.

I had a minor run in with a couple of scrotes today. Normal type, balaclava no helmet, bikes falling to bits, riding over grass, pavements etc.

They saw me taking photos and rode over giving verbal, threats, including riding on the pavement to do close passes to intimidate etc. I told them to f off and kept on my way, end of event.

Looking back at the photos, the only stuff from them that's nailed on is riding on the road without helmet or insurance. There's supporting video of them making a close pass, but it's not the closest they did, nor on the pavement.

My expectations is nothing will happen to them as no-one was actually injured and nothing damaged. Is that realistic?

For the why bother reporting brigade, no I don't have anything better to do, and I don't want these idiots hurting themselves or anybody else with their antics

I expect not much would happen on the back of one report. Quite hard to trace them I imagine. But the more people who report stuff the more likely resource will be put to it so not without value.

The police had a crackdown by us and the problem seems to have dried up.

Send it in, I am sure they will have a "file" and all of this will contribute e.g. if these scumbags are involved with another event down the line it will all add up and help to build the bigger picture of antisocial behaviour.

It would at least help them see the problem, even if you don't get to see VBRJ being immediately deployed.

Don't waste your energy in future. They are breeding faster than is worth it.

How did you manage to take photos when driving?

Copy in your local MP too. I don't know about the police but some other enforcement agencies if contacted by MPs crap their pants and do stuff.

I would report it for sure and get it logged.

if the pictures are of decent quality they may have picked up distinguishing markings on the bikes which could provide useful if anyone else reports it in the future.

What I find odd is that you wouldn’t just report it anyway, without having to resort to an internet forum.

Failed to mention, I already reported it, with the images that show the registrations and the riders.

I would advise against these interactions unless you're prepared for a fight, potentially with a weapon if they're on stolen bikes/are sociopathic scrotes.

Surprised they had registrations!

I occasionally see the same in my neck of the woods. Usualy a combination of dirt bikes and quad bikes riding together. No number plates, no helmets, all over the road, riding either side of cars coming the other way, pulling wheelies, riding across pavements. Until the police have the power and inclination to stop the s by shooting them nothing will change.

Thats all you can do.

They have the info and if any other reports come in they can gather all the evidence and upon it.

Some years ago when I was living in Oxfordshire we had a few cars broken into in our community on the same night, all BMW's. Mine was one and I was woken up by a neighbour yelling and my alarm going off. The cars had been broken into quite professionally. Anyway we got in a couple of cars and found the "getaway" driver in a nearby close. We blocked him in until the cops arrived and eventually they got him to name the other two and all three were arrested. We all gave statements to the police etc..

A few weeks later we got a letter saying the little bds were going to be cautioned. I was pretty upset as they had damaged the door lock getting in etc.. and they were obviously equipped and knew what they were doing. So not "one offs". I wrote to my MP, who at that time was Tony Baldry. Within a few days I received a letter from the chief constable telling me that the original letter I had received contained erroneous information and that, in fact, all thee were being charged and would be prosecuted, which they were. Had I not written to the MP I'm sure nothing would have happened.

They go off roading/hill climbing in a woodland locally.

At least not doing doughnuts/tearing up the grass fields like the s on electric mountain bikes. shoot

Same here. We live on a steep hill. It seems to be a magnet for illegal bikes doing wheelies all the way up.

Report it.
Crime statistics are notoriously unreliable, mainly because so much is under-reported.
Whether it is followed up is another matter, but at least it puts down a marker.
