Hi,
I received a NIP from Avon and Somerset police issue date 10th May. It is addressed to my son who has cerebral palsy and is unable to drive. The vehicle is registered to him incorrectly and I have asked DVLA to amend their records. The paperwork was sent to the DVLA prior to receiving the NIP. What should I do? Should I wait for the correct paperwork from the DVLA or reply to the police myself? I was driving the vehicle when it was recorded at 37mph in a 30mph zone.
Any advice gratefully received as this is my first speeding ticket in 40 years of driving

For that speed you'll likely get an awareness course.

Is it actually a NIP or a Section 172 request for drivers details? I suspect the later in which case declare the driver and await the wheels of justice in parallel with DVLA amending the keepers details.

Can you fill in the form stating you were the driver and get him to sign it some way ? Then the natural course of things will happen and you`ll be sent the correct forms.

I`d treat the DVLA issue as a separate issue

It's extremely likely to be both.
