I've always got away with 10% + 2, so 24mph in a 20, 35 in a 30 etc, not this time, a mobile camera van booked me at 46, what's your most pathetic speeding ticket?

Not answering the question but, with the thresholds though 24.0 is the threshold so if you are doing 24.1 then you are over that, so I guess the “safe” amount is 23 in a 20, 34 in a 30, 45 in a 40 and so on.

10% +2 is the point at which they take action. You should have used 10% +1.

Just waiting for the PH massive to tell you you’re fibbing and asking for proof as it’s 10% +2 no matter what, which it isn’t, you can be done at 1mph over if the police force so wishes.

Was going to say the same. I wish someone would post proof so that all the naysayers could stop.

Slightly off topic but my non petrolhead friend who agrees wholeheartedly with the 20 limits all over London now has 6 points. All incurred over the past 6 months in 20 limits. laugh

Yeah, no doubt someone will wade in. Given that it happened well over 20 years ago evidence is not forthcoming. Besides, MoD plod back then were the most officious tossers you could imagine and it wouldn’t have mattered if I was only 1 mph over, he was going to have his moment.

It all went downhill when he asked for my rank and unit when he was writing out the ticket. Got into a right row with him and whilst I still ended up with points and a fine, he still knew exactly what I thought of him. I imagine it didn’t make a blind bit of difference to his day whereas I spent the rest of mine honking about it to anyone who would listen.

Firstly, all numbers are in KMH

A friend got done for 59 in a 50, it's 2 lanes each way and driving at 50 on it was positively dangerous, so everyone did at least 60 on it if not more.

Note my use of the past tense above! About 3 months after they got their ticket the road was re-evaluated and the limit raised to 80!

Personally, my best was 73mph in a 40mph zone about 35 years ago, got away with only 3 points due to an excellent attitude when pulled over.

If you go back to 80's or 90's it was very common to get a producer from MoD plod for 1 mph over on their roads, or even just accelerating a bit quickly. They never actually prosecuted me as I guess not being military it would not look good. Civi plod just checked the paperwork and told me to behave. Must have had a few as I drove those roads on the way to work every morning. Not sure what it's like now as i moved away 12 years ago.

But got stopped far more often to check if I had any bombs with me, that happened about once a month.

32 in a 30.

Many years ago now, this wasn't Police enforcement but a group of old folk in a village that had been given a high viz and a radar gun loitering at a bus stop, so got a letter on yellow paper asking me to think about my speed followed by a guilt trip on the possible repercussions of my reckless actions.
I guess the Police must have posted the letter to get my address, unless they'd seen my car parked at home? No mention of police or DVLA on the letter.

It did give us a laugh.

Hardly. I agree with OP - not exactly crime of the century is it.
