I wasn’t paying attention and in a car park which I’ve used close to a thousand times I badly scraped passenger side against a steel bollard. Two doors are dented and scratched. From what I can tell I may need new panel(s).
Is this something I can claim? And is it worth it?
Car is Porsche Macan, insurer is Admiral, 4 years NCB on a multicar policy. I’m wary of calling them to ask because that will go on my file regardless of outcome.

If you need to use a Porsche approved bodyshop for the repair, it is either insurance claim or near bankruptcy.

No need to use Porsche approved, why would you?

If you haven't got a warranty or worried about the 12 year corrosion guarantee, then crack on.

Forgot about the 12 year corrossion guarantee.
Anyway, is this something I can claim? No third party was involved, fault is clearly mine

Yes. Thats what fully comprehensive insurance is for. Repairing ANY damage. You will just pay your excess (plus extra for using a bodyshop of your choice, if you wanted to)

Correct. It would have been £250 extra for me to use my body shop plus they wouldn’t provide a hire car. That would have to be provided by the body shop

I would get a quote from somewhere you like and then you can make a judgement. Your NCB may be protected but they can still put the premium up next time.

What has No Claim's Bonus, or NCB Protection, got to do with premium renewal price? It is guaranteed to go up next time.

not really…
NCB is a % discount
NCB Protection protects the % of that discount…
but if you claim then the underlying premium will rise…

you might still get the same % discount, but starting from a higher initial premium means you will still pay more

Still gibberish.

I understand how NCB works. It doesn’t hold that a claim guarantees a rise. It might, not will.

Agreed - not only is it gibberish but it's gibberish that's repeated ad-infinitum on here.

Your premium might increase if you make a claim, it might not. I made a claim 2 years ago - a couple of weeks before renewal. My premium did not increase that year, didn't increase last year - and virtually halved this year to the cheapest it's ever been.

Can you claim? Yes

Is it worth claiming? Maybe

How much is your excess?
Doors are easy to swap - hit ebay etc and see if anywhere is breaking a car in the correct colour and has the doors.

It would be worth getting a couple of quotes - Porsche will be using an 'independent' in any event.

I used an excellent coachworks company for some rust on a Range Rover a few years ago - worth shopping around before deciding if you are obliged to use Porsche or, indeed, your insurance company.

The issue really is whether they would put the premium up because they were going to do so anyway, or BECAUSE there was a claim (or both!). But if the repairs are likely to cost several K, a claim would seem worthwhile.

Got a quite from a decent bodyshop.
£5000+, a non starter to pay myself. They say doors need replacing.

Before I log the claim with Admiral, is there anything I should be aware of?
Will they object to (1) accident happening in a car park i.e. private road (2) any othe funny business they may use to not pay?

You are overthinking here. Just get the claim logged and it'll be fine.
