I have been scammed,can i post scammer name address online

Been scammed for several hundred quid on Facebook.Is it legal for me to post his name and address online to warn others?

Here we go again, another Facebook scam.

Why do people have anything to do with something that is mainly (although I accept, not entirely) inhabited by low life scumbags?
Buy or sell anything on Facebook and you WILL get ripped off.

As with most of these scams, it'll be an address of some innocent person.
I'm guessing the OP paid a deposit for something?

OP: Report the account to FB, report to ActionFraud and you could try speaking to your bank.
It's highly unlikely you won't see any money back, especially as the banks have been trying to educate us against sending money to people we've never met/online etc.

Chalk it up to experience, and move on.

It was seemingly a legit business on Facebook marketplace,he was advertising on Twitter /X too.It was a laptop,it arrived faulty,he told me to return it for repair and he'd cover return post etc.He has kept the laptop and my money.

There is absolutely no point in reporting them to Facebook,they just don't care!Don't ask me how i know this! :-)

I’ve used Facebook for years. It’s been wonderful to re establish contact with old friends. I’ve been to reunions at my old school, my friends from my time in the forces and many others.

I also Admin a couple of groups one with over 12,000 members.

I’ve also sold stuff on Marketplace. Strictly cash at the door only. Yes there’s been some attempted scams but I ignore them.

Similar with EBay so I’m told. That’s why I only deal cash at the door. The buyer gets to inspect the product and the seller gets immediate payment.

Was replying to Lizud stating buying or selling anything, you'll get ripped off. But I can't see how you'd get ripped off collecting stuff for cash only when buying.

He's got a bee in his bonnet about it. I've had no issues at all, buying or selling.

If you are 101% sure that the name and address given are the genuine ones belonging to the person who scammed you, and your side of the story is true, then yes, I'd name and shame. If there is a doubt or your story isn't 100% watertight, then no.
