Shell fuel payment not taken using app and Apple Pay

Went to my local Shell to fill up the car after work and set the Shell app up to pay like I always do. After I finished filling up, the app didn’t process the payment after putting the nozzle down.
Went to pay inside the shop but was told by the cashier they can’t control anything that happens on the app and was told to call up customer services tomorrow. I’ll call them up tomorrow but I’m a bit worried they will chase me up with debt collector letters.
Nothing on my bank statements yet and no transactions on the app. Did take a photo of the amount at the pump. Anybody else had this problem?

It's no big deal even if the app doesn't take the payment and if the garage find you didn't pay, you'll just get a letter asking you to pay. Nothing serious, no debt collection threats.
Don't pay any surcharge if they add one as you clearly tried to pay.
You might even get away with some free petrol if they don't pick it up.
