Mrs car accident insurance advice
Discussion
Mrs V, has been involved in an accident today, she was hit from the rear when stationary at a flat ( painted ) island, waiting for a vehicle to pass around. i attended as soon as i could i have plenty of pictures and got the details of the driver and his boss ( company is a big national delivery company )
Police and Fire attended the scene did checks with us all fine, Mrs V went of to A&E with her Manager ( Mrs V works in the NHS serving the community at there houses ) i moved the vehicle home as its was driveable but the lower rear is caved in and the boot not aligned
Few moments later his boss arrives as do 2 other company dressed people so 4 in total in attendance, and i herd them asking about his insurance. His boss was showing the Police his phone and saying its all insured under the policy.
Mrs V has called her insurance and looks like the driver that hit her was not insured and excess and a claim will be on Mrs V.
How do i go about starting a claim against this company or the driver to pay the excess or pay the vehicle value and it is then there problem,
Vehicle is a 2024 January (73 plate ) Renault Captur Bose edition or something along those lines, she had the vehicle for work and she can only drive auto she dose not have another vehicle to use
how will she get a courtesy vehicle if she claims on her own insurance if this car is being repaired or written off
The driver was dressed and working for the company at the time ( big national delivery company ) but i wont say the name just incase it harms the situation in any way
any advice appreciated

You don't, just leave it to your insurance companhy, that is what you have paid them to do.Vtekkers said:

If your insurance includes a courtesy car, then as above they will be the ones to do that for you.E-bmw said:

If your insurance includes a courtesy car, then as above they will be the ones to do that for you.Your excess is what's called an uninsured loss.
If you have legal expenses insurance then this policy will help you recover that from the driver, or his company. If you have to hire a car they will help you recover that cost as well.
As you say it's a national company I'd be inclined to contact them at head office and explain the situation and if they have any sense they will sort this out.

As said by a number of posters, it’s a large National company. I’m sure somewhere along the line they will make sure everything is paid for. If the OP has legal expenses on his policy just leave it to his insurer.
This company has been negligent in not making sure their employee is insured. They and the driver will be prosecutor.

Let your insurance company handle it, but keep on top of them.
Be warned, when I had a very similar situation (hit from behind waiting at a junction, definitely not at fault, vehicle was insured by a corporation but debatable whether the driver was covered by said insurance), it took two years to all get sorted out and close the claim/get my excess back.
Got within a week or so of going to court before they settled.
Also, while I had a contract hire car, the third party insurers tried to piss and moan about the cost as "excessive" (cheapest grade of car available, well within guideline for charges, for less than two weeks while I sourced my new car) and were fishing for evidence of my means as to why I couldn't afford to hire one myself. I addressed this through a diplomatic f
k off, but be aware of the tactic.

quite likely that your own insurance will get a claims handling company to handle the claim who will be well versed in all this and will happily organise a credit hire car if your own ins policy doesn't provide a car. Whether you'd be happy with that is for you to decide, the merits of which has been debated on many occasion on here.
If it was me, I would be talking to the company involved, ask what they want to do about it and then speak to their ins co. If liability is admitted, the ins co might want to deal with it sensibly for you.
If not, or you don't fancy it, use your own insurers as many have said already on the thread.

Thanks for the replys and advice
I have been in contact with the Drivers boss and he said will send over his insurance policy documents, i have also asked for there head office and local branch details for contact to be made.
She dose have motor legal expenses and basic car hire on the policy so i have told her to get back onto her insurance company and use the service as she has paid for it.
will update with anything that goes on when i know or if i need to ask anything else

Just let your insurance deal with it! If anyone asks for an excess at any point, that’s the time to go after the other party, until then, just let the insurance company sort it all out, it’s what you pay for. I speak from experience as very similar happened to me this morning! I’ve already had texts from the boyfriend of the woman pissing about on her phone in traffic and drove into the back of us stationary on the way to school, saying there doesn’t appear to be much damage and saying the insurance will go ‘knock for knock’ so no point claiming etc etc. Shame he wasn’t enough of a know all to be driving her so she could f

I’ve simply replied, ‘don’t worry, the insurance company will be dealing with it. Cheers’ . A pain but let them get on with it.

Assume you mean roundabout not island, islands are the triangle bits next to a roundabout. Our insurer has sent their insurer letters and tried to contact with no answer, and they are not being very helpful ( legal team have just said we probably wont get a reply so will have to claim on our own policy ) how crap is that that, it was no fault of hers but now stuck in this, our insurer will start the ball rolling on a self claim
no courteys car on her policy so can not get one if claiming on our policy
is it time for legal outside of insurer
do i contact the delivery company head office, but what do i ask for
do i contact their insurer and see whats going on
getting a bit wound up as its been a week with nothing happening and a broken car on the drive,

Firstly I don’t understand why your car is not in a body shop being repaired? Tell your insurer to get it repaired straight away.
As said above a number of times, it’s your insurer that should do all the work. If the third party is not cooperating they should start legal proceedings. If the van driver has been charged with driving without insurance that would be a big help.
It’s a shame a courtesy car is not on your policy. The only option is you pay for a hire car. Then, with a bit of luck?, when this claim is settled in your favour, you will get all your expenses refunded.

If the driver was an employee and driving under instruction of his employer in one of their vehicles it's most unlikely they will be charged with driving without insurance. As said above a number of times, it’s your insurer that should do all the work. Mrs has called the other drivers insurance and the policy got cancelled 18th 11 2024
Just found out they are a franchise of the delivery company so no good going after the delivery company,
Need to find out the franchise company details now which might take some work
I have the contact of the drivers boss, tried calling him no answer
I'm getting more wound up by this situation more and more as it's looking like it's going to hit us and not them

One of the benefits of Insurance is to allow the experts to resolve these issues and de stress the situation for you and your wife. You chasing around like a headless chicken is a hindrance rather than a help. Let them do their job. If you have issues/questions direct them at your insurer. Let them deal with it. I understand this is stressful for you both however let your insurers will deal with it. Timescales you can discuss with them.

The person you have a claim against is the driver of the vehicle involved. Just found out they are a franchise of the delivery company so no good going after the delivery company,

You should have obtained his name and address at the time.
Everyone else can just ignore you.
If he refused to give his details at the time report it to the police.
