Maybe. I don’t think the gallows are beckoning this time some how.

64 in a 50 is at the top limit for a course.

Are you thinking the OP is in need of numeracy help?

How old are you?

Not sure of BertBert’s motivation. He appears to be somewhat distracted.

Your speed limit in a van is 50mph in a limit that would be 60 if it wasn’t a van. How we got to discussing ages is a mystery.

I don’t think you need luck. If your offence is inside the time limit, about 4 months after the incident, at 64 mph you will be offered a course if the police deem it appropriate. It isn’t guaranteed but is likely.

OP - was that a speedo or GPS 64?

We have 2 vans (Fiat Ducato) both of which seriously over estimate speed (indicated 70 on speedo = 60 on GPS).

Well it wasn't me discussing age! Not only did I help the OP by enabling them to answer their question, I gave the formula for future reference.

It’s not ‘apparently a 50mph limit’ - it just IS a 50mph speed limit (except car-based vans of course).

It seems apparent to me that most police forces let vans (and cars that are towing) follow the same limits as cars, it is arguably safer than cars riskily overtaking vans.

That doesn’t make it factual.
Loads of drivers of vans and other vehicles subject to lower limits are prosecuted.
Why would prosecutions be brought to your attention in a significant way?

If you get away with an SAC you've been very lucky!

Doing 30K miles a year in a van it might be worth checking what speed limit applies to vans. rolleyes

I got zapped and offered a course while doing 56 in a derestricted section of single carriageway towing a caravan.

I was keeping up with a line of traffic who were all cars smile

Saw the van, looked at the speedo, just under 60, passed the van, realisation, oh st!

Lucky in the sense that a few more mph would have been a Fixed Penalty.

1 mph more would be a FP

Well aware of van speed limits we all take our eye off the ball sometimes as others of said normally you are keeping up with the flow of traffic if anyone knows the road its the A6 Burton latimer where the road is very wide and you down a long hill stretch caught me on way down keeping up with flow annoyingly it is an accident black spot as people tear along and overtake in both directions.
Just to start another debate I know the 50 speed limit is due to vans being heavier and obviously laden but why only the single carriageway 60 limit reduced to 50 everything else is the same as a car plus also looking at some weights there are some just as heavy SUV type vehicles
