In what I can only assume to be a case of mistaken identity, I have received a barrage of unhinged and very disturbing messages from a seller on Ebay. [Redacted]

I haven't had to deal with anything like this before, so I'd be very grateful for any advice. Thanks.

Any indication in the messages what they think you’ve done? Could be worth pointing out to them you have no idea what they’re on about.

I’d still report it on 101 though, just so there’s a record of it.

They're claiming that I have defrauded them. This is completely untrue and baseless. I told them twice that they have the wrong person, this just seemed to wind them up even more.

Thanks, I'll give 101 a go.

I’d probably put a timeline to them. You bought item x on d date, you payed on y, you received them item on z, you’re happy with the item and haven’t tried to get a refund. And you’ve had no idea how you’ve defrauded them. Then probably tell them you’ve reported them to the police and then block them.

Could it be that the account has been hacked by a loony?

Maybe ask them how much... you might end up winning the custard test!

Have you checked to see if PayPal perhaps reversed the payment for some reason?

Can't 28 days later be downloaded for nowt? In terms of money and abuse! Good film BTW. Maybe not too far away from the truth.

I don't believe I use PayPal to pay for items on Ebay. My bank card is on my account and payments are taken directly from it. Ebay also confirmed that they don't know what the seller is talking about, everything is 'as normal' on their side.

It's nice to own things on original physical media.

Get Ebay to take further action too, they should close or block their account.

Years ago a total nutter was messaging me when I was selling some boots for my daughter. An extreme crank who didn’t like the brand!. He managed to find ways around my blocking him, Ebay banned the loon in the end.

Also ISTR that 28 Days Later is one of those films which is almost impossible to stream or download legally, because of a copyright issue over some of the music in is soundtrack. If you open the DVD you never need to worry about it disappearing from your chosen streaming platform.

I had something like this. I reported to 101 who said they can't do anything as no crime was committed. But I blocked the guy and said nothing to him and touch wood nothing since. Worth reporting to 101 so at least it's in their call records.
