Last time i did this was back in 1999!. The rules were different then lol. As i understand it now if you buy a car mid month the seller VED gets taxed to the end of the month,VED and the buyer from the beginning of same month

Does changing Reg in the same month as purchased, from the one on the car when bought, to a reg on retention have the same rules or is it 'transferred' just raising a one off £80.00 and no charge for a 'double 'month eg old reg to end of month and new reg from first of month. DVLA site not clear on this I am guessing as it is the same car then the VED is continous

TIA

no extra VED to pay. I have done this several times.

Buy the car and pay the tax and once the V5 comes through in less than a week usually, put private plate on. My insurance company doesn't charge either.

Tax is just transferred if you change reg.

Shouldn’t cost you anything as you paid when you put the registration on retention. It’s free to assign it to a new vehicle and you’ll pay again when take it off.!
