NIP posted to a very close friend!
64 in a 50.

Was on an empty dual carriage way on a Sunday and not built up.

This shouldnt even be a 50!

Anyway, thats not my arguement.

Just wanted to get an opinion of what the fine will be.
3 points and £60?

Does it make a difference if the prosecuted has previous convictions?

If it's from a safety partnership (likely to be from the description of the trap) then it'll be the straight forward £60 + 3 points.

It's only about cash - so why prosecute for more and lose the money by going through the courts?

Only things in envelope were a NIP and form to fill in. No fixed penalty type stuff.

So does this mean if the prosecuted fills in the form they'll just get a fixed penalty notice?

Its possibly just to confirm that you are the owner of the car and it was you driving?

Dusty the form to fill in is the 172 request to name the driver. Once done and signed they can use this as evidence in the speeding case.

From the speed and limit mentioned if the driver has under 9 points then they should get a Conditional offer, which will be the next piece of paper work, to pay £60 and have 3 points put on the Licence.
9 points already on a Licence then its Court for a Totting disqualification.

Direct your friend to have a rummage around www.pepipoo.com. And to ask for advice there before doing anything else.

Thanks for the advice.

Think its gonna be easier to just take a hit on this one, even though I dont think its justified.

I feel sorry for my friend, I think I'll buy him lots of beer to drown his sorrows!
