I selected the wrong car on Rinngo and then kept renewing the session.

I got a PCN. Fair play, I messed up.

But I appealed and pointed out that I DID pay. They declined the appeal, saying "yes we can see you paid. But you used the wrong car, so PCN will not be cancelled".

Yes, It's a small sum of money relatively, but it is annoying. They know I paid to park. They are being awkward.

Anyone with any experience of this or do I just pay up?

I don't have any experience of this, but I thought some kind of leniency was brought in to cover this kind of thing where a genuine error was made, something like a £20 fee, not the £100 or so usual penalty.

I did that in Southampton a few weeks ago.

Reg was wrong by one digit, which was my fault; they cancelled it on appeal.

All I did was fill out the form and send them a screenshot of the payment.

They’re being deliberately stupid. Worcester cancelled ours when we explained one of either wife paid for her car or it was old cars details still stored.

Take it to adjudication as the council are being obtuse. There was no attempt by you to evade paying, you just made a genuine error.

Same happened to myself in Glasgow. Screenshot of Ringo to show I had the other car and genuine mistake and they cancelled it.

I can see their point, park two cars and only pay for one…..

I have done exactly as the OP did and in my appeal suggested they check their records and they would find that the car I had paid for incorrectly was not at that location on that day.

My appeal was successful

This sort of thing fking boils my piss.

Yes, you selected the wrong reg. But you did pay for your session.

It epitomises just how brain dead the folk running the country (and cities) are.

Take it to the adjudicator, they are being very silly. I paid on Ringo and clicked the wrong car in error, easy to do as I have multiple cars on there. I just showed them the screenshot of it being paid and they cancelled the ticket.

The other week my Mrs paid for parking by Ringo, but reg had one digit missing. Got a ticket, we appealed and they cancelled it. Common sense needs to prevail.

I’m pretty confident this will be cancelled when it comes in front of someone with more than two brain cells. But to get to that point will need input from you

There is guidance on this around errors in the input of details.

My wife selected the wrong car on a parking app. I appealed using section 17.4 of the following document:

https://www.britishparking.co.uk/write/Documents/A...

It was classed as a major keying event but got the charge reduced to £20.

ETA: if you key one digit wrong (or miss a digit etc.) it is classed as a minor error and the ticket should be cancelled according to the document above.

Wish I had known this when I used one of the parking apps but was in my mum's car and forgot to change the reg. I appealed to North Yorkshire County Council showing them the evidence that I had paid for parking but they just turned round and said 'tough'.

Apologies, I will ensure my future posts are written with greater sensitivity for those who may be more delicate and easily upset.

This site has taken over Pepipo. I used it last month. Very helpful members who pointed me to a copy/paste appeal in my circumstances which worked.

Worth posting on there.

Pepipoo used to be good.

The last couple of times I used the new site, I was pounced upon by several people who thought they were Judge Rinder. They told me that I didn't have a leg to stand on, and quite arrogantly.

So I stood on my apparently supportive leg and did it myself, winning on both occasions.

They then wanted me to post up copies of the letters I had written to win my appeals. Which I didn't provide.

Parking Appeal Email said:
Thank you for your recent online appeal submission.

Following your appeal, we can confirm payment was made for parking, however, the vehicle registration which the payment was made against was AAAAAAA. The vehicle used on this date was BBBBBBB therefore the system was unable to allocate this payment against your vehicle and a Penalty Notice was issued correctly.

As the payment was made for the incorrect vehicle, it was not valid. Moving forward, please ensure that your ticket is purchased for the correct VRM. If for any reason a ticket has been purchased for the incorrect VRM, please purchase a new ticket for the correct VRM and request a refund for the incorrect purchase. If you purchase a ticket online, please call our client's customer support team on xxxxxxx and an agent will be able to amend the VRM for you.

Your appeal has been rejected however we can confirm the balance has been reduced to £20 to reflect that either the incorrect vehicle was selected or a keying error has occurred.
