For Northants PH’ers or anybody passing through.

I’ve keep seeing 2 unmarked Ford Mondeo Estates, a dark blue one and a gold one, usually on or around the A45 between the M1 junction 16 and Northampton.

I’ve seen a few people getting pulled over, including: The gold one pulling a couple of my local TVRCC members on the way to a meet a few months back – fortunately they got away with a warning. Yesterday around 5:10pm I saw the dark blue one pull a Gallardo.

Keep your eyes open!

Is there a plain clothes Scooby patrolling the Northants area? Was coming along the A43 on Saturday night and there was a dark blue WRX driving in a suspiciously sensible manner...

I’ve not seen any Scoobies. There’s also a dark blue Volvo estate which I came up behind at warp speed the other day and noticed just in time – but most people know to look out for Volvos anyway and it was easier to spot that the Mondeos because their in car equipment was more obvious.

Folks, unmarked Plod are easy to spot, so raise that vision and be safe out there....

Oh I dunno, Peterborough have (had) a gold X reg Chavalier..... Not exactly what you expect to be driving.

You can still tell it's though, it hasn't got smoke billowing out of the exhaust and it sticks to the speed limits

Except in the middle of the night on a pitch black road...

I'd say the opposite, that's when they stand out the most!

Hence my 'suspiciously sensible manner' comment above

Mate if they gave us Scoobies, the last thing on my mind would be driving it sensibly!!

That was me. (sunday). Plod was on his own and I didn't spot any camera gear. Very agited guy, but fair. I was cooking in third gear when his lights heated up my rear view mirror. Ouch.

Easy way to spot undercover plod, they usually have two rear view mirrors.

Get in the habit of glancing at every car you pass, if you spot 2 rear mirrors it is either plod or if it has a big sign saying "dave's driving school" and L plates plastered all over it, it is probably Dave, or plod cunningly disguised as Dave.

Just spotted another one on the A43 heading towards Northampton - a dark grey Volvo saloon (S60 or S80, couldn't tell which), heavily tinted windows with the registration "AJ 1". First time I've seen an unmarked car with a personal plate!

Quite a lot of clutter on the rear parcel shelf, including one of those red dot matrix signs that was displaying "Police" at the time.

AJ1 = Della Canning CC N Yorks.

DVD once drove this on a Humber Hawk I do recall from somewhere. edited to add Found it!here

Now regarding all this spotting unmarked police cars baloney.

When I travel up the M1 this pm in a gold Mondeo Estate complete with two interior mirrors I'll expect purrrrfect driving around me. Will I get it?

Unmarked cars used to be hard to spot, but these days the tracker antennas, VHF and Airwave antennas, alley strobes, deck strobes, grill strobes, camera(s), mirrors (in blind spot mirrors) and uniformed bobby driving it kind of give the game away

Unmarked cars dont, and never have bothered me. I stick to the limits.

In 35 years driving, never ever got a ticket, not even a parking ticket thank you very much.

I really am surprised just how many threads on this site indicate a complete floundering of the speed limits on the roads.

Whether or not you agree with them is neither here or there.
