38 in a 30!!!!
Discussion
I've just been pinged supposedly doing 38 in a 30 by a scamera van. While I would obviously say I didn't think I was going that fast, there are a couple of other points I'm not too happy about...going from a 60 straight into a 30 zone, which starts at the top of a hill, and secondly, the scamera van was lying in wait at the bottom of the hill in a lay-by. Sharp practice if you ask me...
I know I'm sore because I've been pinged, but they sure are devious b:censored:s, and I'd love to be able to think of something they were doing 'not quite right' if you get me drift.
I must have a look at the website to see the piccys :hurl:

But, you can ask for the video recording of the whole session, and they have to send you it before going to court. I know of a few cases where eventually after faffing around the CPS dropped the case in stead of releasing the contents of the video. Either they couldnt be bothered, OR it included some damning evidence of the incorrect setup or use of the device, or error messages reported on or around the time you were nabbed.

I've only managed to have a quick trawl, but is there anything in the argument that if the scamera was operated by a civilian, they do not have the power to offer expert opinion evidence?
There doesn't appear to be any proof either way that this is a valid defence - which would suggest it hasn't been tested in court - which would suggest that the powers that be won't let it reach a court case.
Make your own judgement...

I've just found out that my local constabulary will be offering 'driver training courses' from Jan 2005, where you pays your £60, but get no points. Bearing in mind that other authorities have offered this option for a while now, I feel a bit miffed!!
It is 2005 now, last time I checked.
Do you mean Jan 2006 ?
