I've got 3 points for a minor speeding incident, and it's making life supprisingly difficult.

My car insurance doubled, so I've had to drop down to TPFT, rather than funny comp.

I've been turned down for several jobs, and given my current situation, this is a big problem. (Note that I've offered to get my own business insurance and use my own car, if I can claim back mileage, which seems more than fair). There aren't many jobs around here, and many require a clean license (even those where no company vehicles are used, which is very odd)

Obviously the "my mate works at the DVLA and can delete the points if you send him £250" is not what I'm looking for. Is there a process by which I can have the points taken off, other than waiting it out?

Thanks

The short answer:

No.

The long answer:

Nooooooooo.

If you broaden your job search to couriers, they are normally happy to accept those with speeding points on their licence - but will reluctantly accept drivers with clean licences too, apparently.

It can’t be done, as simple as that.

Very unusual for any Insurer to double the premium on renewal following a speed ticket unless it wasn’t the first one and / or you are very young and /or already had issues getting due to car choice / record etc.
As such did you shop around at renewal by just using comparison sites ?
May be worth speaking to a specialist broker.
Apologies if you have done so already and hope you are able to resolve.

So business insurance is affordable but SDP isn't?

Anyway, I would shop around... 3 points shouldn't make huge difference.

How old are you and how long have you held a full licence?

3 points really shouldn't be a big deal. By coincidence my wife and I have both received 3 points for speeding in the last year, after 20+ years of having a clean licence. I was still able to find insurance slightly cheaper than the previous year. Hired cars with no problem. It's had zero impact really.

There is a way.

Wait 5 years, they expire of old age after that.

Other that have you tried Harry Potter at Hogwarts?

I don't think the drinking is the problem here...

It was the first ticket I got points for, as have previously done the "course"
I'm 22, nearly 23.
Car is the same as last year, and cost me a little over £500 a year to insure fully comp. Address is the same, mileage, employment status, etc etc all the same. The only thing which has changed at time of renewal is I've gone from being 21 to 22, for 4 years NCB to 5.
Ended up with Adrian Flux.

22, held a full license since I was 17, no accidents or claims.

On similar grounds to when people hoover up more than 12 points but keep their license because loosing it would cost them their job, etc.

The people who have more than 12 points still have more that 12 points but the judge didn't suspend their licence, the points haven't gone anywhere.

You are misunderstanding.

That's entirely different and involves the magistrates choosing not to implement a ban. At no point did any of those motorists have three earlier points removed because it was causing them hassle.

As others have said, you have no recourse to those points being removed other than the passing of time.

Just to clarify, are they the ones that want double, or that you found by bashing the internet?

BTW I don't blame you for asking the initial question; doors can open by asking wild questions.
