WTF? The govt will spooge quarter of a million on each of them, they'll never be used and will be sold for a song 10 years from now after they've cost a fortune in maintenance and training for drivers who will never drive them. At least those water cannon Johnson wasted money on had a purpose.Met have orders for 18 of them for extreme riots.

The Jankels that are being retired are all on 54/55 plates and got used a lot more than you'd think. They are all now absolutely knackered and well past their best. These will be used for the next 20 years and when compared to the cost of the average Public Order Carrier or even some specialist vehicles with far shorter service lives are pretty good value for money.
They'll be used for a lot of roles across London, firearms deployments (sieges for example or when the Iranians threatened the independent press, they used Jankels for that too), large scale disorder and just about any other event they can justify their deployment.
Compared to some of the crap other forces have purchased, these are a good buy.
