Time from being named driver to ticket/nip issued?

On 17th October, while driving my dad's car, I didn't slow down enough in time through a smart motorway speed limit change, which was my own fault as I was unfamiliar with the cruise control and the time it takes for the car to slow. My Dad got the NIP and named me within the 14 days. I gave him all my details, and he sent the paperwork off.

Does anyone know how long it takes from being named to getting issued a ticket? It's coming up to 3 months now (granted xmas was in the middle) and I'm getting a bit sick of my heart sinking every time a brown envelope comes through the door.

I've done a bit of research, and it appears to be open-ended which seems a little strange.

Any ideas?
