I couldn't find a discussion on this topic, so thought I would start one.

Driving test cheating soars as candidates turn to Bluetooth headsets and impersonators

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cx2g30wwmnno

Examples of people prosecuted last year, reported by the Press Association News Agency, include 23-year-old Qounain Khan, who was handed an eight-month prison sentence in June 2025 after pleading guilty to impersonating learners at theory test centres 12 times.

The court heard impersonators could be paid up to £2,000 for passing a test.

Sorina-Ana Turcitu, 42, admitted attempting to take a practical driving test on behalf of someone else. She was sentenced to 12 weeks' imprisonment suspended for 18 months in September 2025.

And Ali Rasul, 22, was handed a two-year prison sentence in November 2025 after being caught repeatedly trying to cheat the theory test over an eight-month period either by using a hidden earpiece or an impersonator.

£2,000 for taking a test for someone!!! If you can't pass a driving exam then how on earth can you be trusted to drive correctly? The prison sentences need to be much tougher - these people are making a fortune.

People who have no clue how to drive, and no regard for the law or their and other people's safety.

You think having unskilled people driving like s in 2 ton cars without any training or ability to pass a fairly simple test is a good thing?

For every test fraudulently passed by that fker. Every other road user is at risk of an accident (or worse) from the inbred s who paid him.

Throw them all in jail for 10 years!

I fear this is a far bigger problem that the usual suspects in the media and politics would like us to know...

It might explain why the driving standards in the UK are the worst they've ever been.

Managed what? To get someone else to take your test, or to pass without lessons?

Pass my test without paying someone else to do it? Didn't seem that hard to understand.

With lessons I assume, like most of us. Good for you.
I had no clue at 17, but I took lessons. The people who pay people to take a test for them, as I said, 'Have no clue how to drive, and no regard for the law or their and other people's safety.'
Not sure what point you are trying to make with your comment.
That not everyone cheats? No kidding Columbo!
Or did you mean you passed your test at 17 despite "not having a clue" and "without paying someone else" for lessons?

FFS here you go.

"I had no clue how to drive at 17 [never had a lesson and couldn't drive] but still managed [to pass with lessons] without paying someone else £2k"

It would cost way less than £2k to pass the test yourself.

So the same as most people then. You've literally come on a thread about people cheating on their driving test to tell us you didn't. Like most of us. As I said, good for you.

You've completely ignored the bit that it would cost less than £2k to pass yourself but yeah nothing to see here.

Backs up the idea that a considerable portion of people on the road (probably literally) shouldn't be there.

I don't know what all you talking about, driving standard in UK are worst ever been in the UK for those who are qualified to drive, let alone Lerner drivers.
You all must have 0 points on your licence for 50 years and no accidents.

Only if you were capable of learning. Some people are clueless, and fail tests multiple times after many lessons. If they also have no regard for the law or safety, then inevitably some of them will attempt to cheat. Hence people charging to take the test for them.

So you've got no reply to my comment except call me a and try to close the debate by saying I need to have the last word?

The ridiculous delays getting a driving test is probably helping to motivate this crime.
