I'm livid with Kent police. My very sensible 25 year old son was walking his new puppy in a public park when a staffie ran across the park and started attacking the puppy. The feckless owner and his girlfriend sauteed over and after a few words punches my son in the head: leaving a nasty cut and bruise. An older woman witnessed the attack and took photos of the attacker and his girlfriend. Reported to the police on the phone 2 weeks ago and absolutely nothing from them. He chased twice and either 'The officer dealing with it is "off shift" or "There's nothing we can do". So the upshot is that a thug can physically assault a stranger in a public park with absolutely no consequences. He can now keep on punching people with impunity. Just had to get that off my chest.

MPs can be useful in this situation, though it depends on the MP.

I'd try MP as well, and do they have a complaints process? Especially with witness and photos.

I'd have thought that ABH would apply here

Yes, I'm encouraging him to make a formal complaint. I can just about understand non contact for minor theft type crimes, but not where someone is physically injured in an attack and there is a willing witness and photos. He was pretty shaken up and now avoids that park. It's highly likely that the thug lives in the estate bordering the park and would be easy to identify from the photos and a bit of door knocking.

Thug knows not to call people names, could really get into trouble for that kind of behaviour.

Report that before being struck the perpetrator called your lad; a y1d, a p00f, or other protected characteristic. That will get the police on the case.

Your son will need to make the complaint as he is the person affected by the poor service. It should be easy to resolve once logged though.
