Car Park ding. Left note. Is this guy being out of order?
Discussion
I was guilty of a low speed impact while manoeuvring in a car park. I did the right thing and left a note. The guy went to a main dealer and got a quote of £600 to get it fixed to his satisfaction. I’m fine with that. But now he wants an extra £200 for loss of earnings taking the car to the garage. It’s not loads, but would my insurance pay that if I went through them? He could go to a more local garage, or get a mobile dent repair…

He clearly isn't going though his Insurance and if he claims of yours they will only pay the cost to repair and won't include his supposed loe.InitialDave said:
FFS, you encounter that rare person who does leave a note and is willing to pay for a proper repair, any you still try to find a way to milk it.
Put it through insurance and let them deal with him.
This, the guy's a knob. Every time I've taken a hit in a carpark the offender has legged it. Put it through insurance and let them deal with him.

Pressed send too quickly. To add , if he does claim through yours they may also suggest he gets alternative quotes for price comparison.
I guess there is nothing to stop him adding in the loss of earnings but relative to the cost of repair might be his way of trying to circumnavigate the former.
I had this back in 1998.
Was willing pay to keep it off the insurance as I'd only passed my test in the last year.
Silly lady kept jacking up and up the amount the would cost to repair.
So I went screw it shoved it through the insurance and hoped they wrote her car as it was a 15 year old Fiesta, in it didn't. the repair cost £300.
She was not pleased but I didn't care as she was a piss taker.
It was a small side mirror sized dent in the near side rear quarter panel.
She wanted of £1k for what was an £150 off the books repair tops

Surely the main dealer will just get a mobile dent remover in??
Of course they will, plus 300% markup.Riley Blue said:
