I was pulled over after being clocked at 99mph with a radar detector and read the whole "reporting you for the consideration of prosecution" speech. That was 3 1/2 weeks ago and I have no letter.

The last time this happened I was pulled over at the weekend and had the letter within the next week, although that was almost 10 years ago. Have things really slowed down this much?

I think that they've got 6 months or so to do stuff. Could be a long wait!

You received your NIP at the roadside so now you are basically waiting for the punishment to arrive, this will be either FPN or a court date depending on how much leeway the officer decides to give you. If you hear nothing within 6 months then you are pretty much in the clear.

It could be up to 6 months before you hear anything.

As it’s 2026, expect to receive a Single Justice Procedure Notice, so ignore nonsense posted on here (or elsewhere) about getting “suited and booted” after receiving a summons.

Laser not radar.

99 mph is not a fixed penalty.

Neither is it a court date.

For info, the single justice procedure has been around since 2015.

Unless Scotland!?

Things have clearly changed since I was last pulled on the motorway then!

looking at this link if you have been put down for 99 then it seems there are a couple of options around points or short ban

https://www.singlejusticeprocedure.co.uk/speeding....

But the SJPN still has to be instigated within 6 months of the offence, what does your paperwork actually say about the speed?

That’s a website for a fake solicitors’ firm. Probably best to ignore such things.

Operated by an IT nerd who charges gullible people for legal advice, although not a regulated individual. It should be shut down.

I didn't get any paperwork! Last time I had a slip and I think I had to sign something.

I don’t know what that related to - maybe you weren’t given a NIP at the roadside - but every one of these I’ve heard of that was beyond a fixed penalty has gone pretty tight to the 6mth deadline.

Many years ago - Scotland
96mph - paperwork took a few months (hoped it had been lost but no eventually turned up!) plead guilty by letter.

You’ll wait up to 6 months for the court date. You’ve been served the NIP at the roadside. Happened to me so do t get your hopes up it’s slipped through the net.

Oh well. I'm getting a fully forged engine built next month, then it'll give me a few months to save up for the fine!
