Just a quickie, had to go to Emersons Green Hospital (out skirts of Bristol) a couple times last week.

Whilst checking in with the receptionist, I left the wife to enter the car registration in to the screen to validate the parking.

I know we discussed the car registration when we arrived for the first appointment as it's not a car she uses she's not 100% on the registration.

Anyway, we've now two PCNs, one for each of the days we were there, all that's she's done is transpose two characters in the registration. But unlike some other systems we've used elsewhere there is no validation/check on the screen to ensure it's the right car/registration.

I believe it's called a "Minor Keying Error" and was a genuine mistake. There is no evidence that we have as no ticket is issued, but it should be registered on their system when entered.

What are the odds they will try and say the charges should apply?

Or will they accept the appeal?

Did you pay with a card, so you can show you paid?

It's a free car park for patients and visitors so there is no financial track.

Literally all you do is to enter you registration in to a screen in reception - but this one doesn't check the registration to see if it's valid or the car matches. frown

I'm struggling to see a significant problem. Just send them details of the keying error and they should be able to see exactly what happened. They'll have an image of one registration and a keyed registration that's just slightly different. Very obviously they know the vehicle's time of arrival so won't have far to look in their records.

That would be the logical thing to do, but these private parking companies have never been about customers.

No mistakes and they do not make anything.

For parking at Gatwick Airport I booked my car in and paid in advance with the correct registration number.
When I entered the car park the anpr read my number incorrectly, which I could see on the ticket.
When I came to exit the car park a few days later the barrier obviously wouldn't open.
When I pressed the "help" button it didn't take the operator very long to look up the details and open the barrier.

I have had two invoices from them, for overstaying. Both had mitigating circumstances, one was a medical emergency, and Parking Eye scrapped the charges for both. It does happen.
