Waze does not give enough notice of active mobile camera locations and doesn't seem to do it at all unless you have a route set. It also slightly annoys me as it looks like it was designed by a 5 year old and I don't have CarPlay in all my cars (yet) so this looks like a decent option, especially for the money.
Anyone using one already?

No, but I like the idea you don't have to be navigating for it to work, Maps does for me give plenty of notice but you do have to be actively navigating, there's plenty of times I don't nav so having a little box to alert me seems a good Idea, a bit more of a modern road angel with connectivity. Just need a cloaking device with auto activation for the pesky mobile laser traps now.

With Waze you get both audial and visual notifications which work very well and integrates perfectly with most new cars.
Waze also has a massive peer to peer community, so live updates of mobile cameras and traffic issues are like more accurate than with the Ooono.
So what am I missing, genuine question.

Waze isn t great at all. It doesn t integrate with with a lot of car systems such as head up displays and the graphics and maps are extremely dated.With Waze you get both audial and visual notifications which work very well and integrates perfectly with most new cars.

I use my car’s standard maps or google maps and combined with Ooono I get the best of both worlds.
What these don’t do that Waze does however, is give the reasons for congestion/road closures.

It comes with a database or preloaded speed cameras. But as you mentioned, you can also report new camera locations/mobile cameras and it always on the minute you turn in the ignition. I find it very useful. Especially with Waze being so basic and not integrating with any of car cars I’ve owned. I prefer using the built in car maps or Apple car play and with that I still get the benefits of my car’s head up display drivers and what exact lane I need to be in, none of which I get if I use Waze.The only difference is it s always on .

Waze will alert you to police,cameras etc even if you dont have a route set but you do have to have the app open on your phone or on your headunit. My headunit in both cars, I plug my phone in and use Android Auto for spotify, I split screen it with Waze even if I havent set a route for that reason.
As for it doesn't give you enough heads up about cameras, I mean what more do you want. it gives 500m notice for the actual alert at 70mph but you an see it on the map further infront.
Ooono is set to alert 300-500m before a camera at 70mph so no different than Waze at all.
In cars that dont have a Android Auto/Apple Car play headunit, I just stick the phone in a holder on the windscreen.
Are you also saying your built in maps are more up to date than waze? never happening, if you had the 2026 map updates on your car they are still usually 1/2 years out of date.
Waze maps are updated every 25/48 hours by community editors so they are about as up to date as your going to get.
It depends on the car but if you are managing to get Google Maps on the heads up display then you can get Waze on there as well.

Just seems to be a reinvention of the units that were around before the first Tom Tom Go.
Can't remember the make, I had one, it was just a black box with red lights that warned of speed cameras in its data base. Also had an audio alert and I believe a button to press if you saw a camera that it didn't warn you about.
Oh and back then you needed a GPS antenna that had to have a clear view of the sky.
Seems odd that various manufacturers are making them these days seeing that virtually the whole world carries a Smart phone and these units all need to connect to an App. So why spend more money?

Found a reference to mine, I think, Origin B2....
Although mine must have been an earlier model as I don't remember the LCD.
You had to unplug it from the car a lot and connect it to your PC so it could download the latest database. It was all a bit of a faff but we didn't know any better.
I bought the first Tom Tom Go from a shop in Tottenham Court Road and fired it up in my BMW parked right outside.
'Bloody hell! it knows where I am! '
I exclaimed. It was like magic.
Later I downloaded a camera database from a free site and added the Red Alert sound from the Starship Enterprise. Used to pee off the wife

I've taken to using the Porsche Nav for actual routing as it will display guidance on the HUD with my phone connected through BT for spotify and then run either ABRP or Waze on the phone in a cradle for camera info and warnings.
