Don't reply to it. If (like me) they don't send you another one, you have to go to court. But stick to your guns, they can't prove you've recieved it and you get off. I did, anyway.

Obviously you risk perjury, but what the fk eh! I take it you claimed because the second NIP was after the allotted 14 day time limit it was invalid thus allowing you to stick it to them, Nice!

Royal mail is so crap you could quite easily build a case regarding the millions of letters that go missing each year…http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/3681547.stm

Letters do indeed go missing, a couple of years ago, the Inland Revenue wanted to fine me £100 for not paying my tax on time, I enquired where the demand was, they said "Well on our computer screen, it shows you have been sent 3 demands", I had genuinly received none whatsoever, so I told them "Either your software is wrong, or the letters were not delivered", they waiverd the fine. Thank you very much.

Speedo's generally over-read 2 or 3 MPH at 30, so you were probably actually only going 33-34 Max. Even a Gatso wouldn't normally get you for that (or they'd be overwhelmed) and whoever was doing the zapping may well have only being doing people at 35+, or maybe even 40.

That's one of the things I find confusing! If the limit is 30 and speeding is dangerous, the camera should trigger at 31. And all camera sites should have cameras in the boxes, because otherwise there are accident blackspots without appropriate protection.

So how come there's this leeway? That leeway could be the difference between safety and a dead child. Surely unacceptable to anyone?

I suggest we campaign for cameras being set at just above the speed limit, to make the point to the millions more who will then be furious with the government that it's all to do with road safety, not money.

our local camera is set at about 38mph.
after a bit of experimenting on the way to work, driving towards the camera, it doesn't flash until approx 38mph.

Be careful with this strategy - IIRC on Gatsos the towards and away trigger thresholds can be independently set....

Thanks for the feedback, It was Thames Valley, and I think they do the course option - although £95 and having to declare self disgust at travelling at such a reckless speed might just be worse than 3 points.
