I always ensure I give all 2 - wheel users plenty of room and opportunity. If everyone used 2 wheels there would be no traffic jams smile
Today in our village I was trundling along at an indicated 30 (the limit), when I saw a motorbike approaching from the rear - I kept well to the left, and he went past at about 70MPH! I've never seen anyone going at such a daft speed through our village (although a sensor has at 72). I have it on dashcam, although I'm sure Police won't be interested as the date/time isn't correct because I disconnected and reconnected the battery a few days ago. Aside from that, I've looked at the video, and the bike has no rear registration plate.
Is it even worth reporting to anyone?

Chances are no reg means it’s nicked, police would watch the video once and file it into a folder to never be seen again

That's about as expected. It's not the speed per se, It's the danger he could hit someone/something. He was fairly close to having a collision only a few second after going past my car. I think riders of more powerful bikes are generally more sensible, and certainly won't start judging them on the evidence of this one.

I've done some very silly speeds in the past, not in a 30 zone obviously but it would've been instant jail if I was caught.
You honestly don't have time to think about the "what if" with regards to injury, death etc when you're riding that fast, you're too focused on everything else around you.

Ever since my eldest was born I trundle about at a sedate pace, to the point where I'm considering selling the KTM and buying something far smaller.

Date nd time are wrong on the camera.

No registration to work from.

Whilst I appreciate the frustration there is nothing there for them to work on, they aren’t going to deploy people to try and trace the motorbike back to find its origin.

I understand and had anticipated that - I presume if it had recorded a collision, the video could be used in evidence? - it would seem daft it not.

Video footage is used a lot as evidence. How would one know if the date and time were correct or incorrect?

I also saw a bike this morning with no rear plate and riding like an idiot, swerving in and out of traffic at high speed while we were stuck in traffic.
Maybe it was the same one, but I was a passenger in a works van and no dashcam.

The council recorded bikes going through our village at 120mph.

The police weren't interested.

Are you also in Norfolk?

To a point it depends on how far out it is but when the Police recover video footage as evidence they will check the date and time settings on a system for accuracy and record any discrepancy, this used to be done using the speaking clock but there are websites which do the same thing now.

When cctv is pulled from numerous sources it can then all be calibrated to each other with the discrepancies allowed for.

Police will record these in their records but it’s the sort of thing that is never discussed in court, the prosecution and defence will have reviewed it pre trial and agreed it.

Probably because it has defaulted to the time/date on the original software load, so maybe 01/01/2017 or something similarly obvious.

I had a moped badly overtake me from 50 to 30 section, with a car on other side that had to slam on to allow him through. I was pretty sure I had this same guy go past me when I was already in the middle of the road because of parked cars, and he very slowly went past me an inch from my right side.

I posted the dashcam vid of the near head-on but blurred the plate out, on the local Facey B group, hoping him or his parents would see it and maybe re-evalute their roadcraft, no harsh words just saying maybe dont commit to a long overtake like that. It's amazing how many people you get insisting the riding was perfectly fine, and the other extreme who think the road should be 10mph.

No, this was near the M40.

At which point the riders defence was being in secondary school with the teachers to verify! Hahaha

If I see someone being an absolute idiot on a bike like this I just assume that it's stolen, numberplate or not.

I give hem nothing I am afraid, too noisy, loads of run illegal plates, cans, wear st clothing, and ride too fast, having lived in a lovely quiet village ruined by the damn things on a regular basis, they can shove it quite honestly.

I used to ride and for the brief moments of fun, it was an entirely miserable experience.

I get why people like it, butto me they are just another car.

But it would have been worse if it was a car doing 70MPH through the village!
