Im a total fking idiot.

I drove under the influence after an argument, and dinked someone's car as they changed lanes. Then I spent the night in the cell, and now have some court thing on the 1st of nov.

I feel like a prat, but im glad nobody was injured.

If [which I doubt] I still have a licence, I need to replace the bonet and front bumper.

At least you admit it.
I dont know you personally so im not going to judge you on it as you seem to be giving yourself a hard enough time about it.
As you say though, at least no one was injured

Mama always told me to kiss und make up before going to sleep on an argument.

Papa always told me to take cold shower after argument und not to drive or ride on an argument.

But ist easier said than done but hope you learn to calm und take deepest breath und compose after losung temper.

Did you change lane on them or they change lane on you? It will make difference for your licence perhaps. Did you move L1/L2? Or did they move L1/L2? Ist not clear when you say they changed lanes.

Jawohl! for driving after argument und not simmering down und coming off boil first.

Ist what they charge you with und evidence against which determine outcome. Fact you have remorse will count in favour as well. Careless driving - normally 3-9 point per little guide which come with driving licence und ban may be up to court - but your remorse may count for you on this one.

Dangerous driving ist different as we know und ist apparently more difficult to prove hence they go for lower charges to get the conviction if they can.

Get some legal advice und seek out the peipoo people as they may offer advice for you to get best outcome under circumstances.

Und ist to drive on argument und to sleep on argument. Ist better to kiss und make up. Can also be more fun

Ach! I miss that bit - fixate on "argument" did wonder why he spent night in cell though. as was typing away ... In that case mandatory ban for 12 month but may be reduced to 9 mponth if re-test und perhaps some course on drink und anger management.

Jawohl - ist right numpty thing to do. Read of one lady who drive wrong way on M66 some year ago (was on here) after argument und storming off in similar huff. Think she receive above punishment but she worked as civvy for GMP per the tabloid story.

Bad news for Rob ist: points stay on licence for 11 years und this und the ban will hike up insurance for longest time. Ist not worth having drink Liebchen und in future - hide the car keys...

For DD? 11 years the points stay? Not that I have any for that. I'm just unaware of the timescale!

Hi guys, Im just dreading the court summons now.

The argument was stupid, was just between a friend, and there isnt a problem about it now.

I've never been arrested before, and have no previous driving offences, but Im fearing this will change my future.

The other driver was in lane 1, I was in 2, however the road begins to go back into a single lane, with my lane being the correct one, still this isnt going to help because I was drunk.

Rehabilitation of Offenders Act says 11 years, however it may not affect insurance premiums for such a length of time. There are no points though, just a straight ban.

I know someone who got banned 3 times, the third time for 10 years. He now has a licence back (and hasn't had a drink in 5 years). His insurer don't load the insurance as the offence is more than 5 years ago.

I wouldn't get his hopes up, a ban is certain unless there are very exceptional circumstances, which this isn't.

Hi guys, thanks for not just flaming me, [I knew people here wouldn't, all the guys I've met on runs have been fantastic].

I have no idea if I need a solicitor or not, never been to court or anything before.

Im expecting a ban, and some kind of fine.

Im a 3rd year student, 25, been driving since 2001, no criminal offences or speeding fines ect. Infact Ive only been stopped once because It was late, and I was driving back through a little village.
My reading was 94 Microgramms of alcohol in my breath.

Think its time to get some new lights, and a puncture repair kit for the bike.Im gonna need it for a long time.

Rob, a year soon goes and during that time you can save for the additional insurance you'll face for a while.
Once you get your licence back it's surprising how your NCB will build and reduce premiums.
Alternatively, get a job abroad, get a new loicence in your new country of work and come back here when you can drive again. Just an idea to keep your spirits up. You admit your error and, in truth, you were rather unluky as well.

This is the second hardest way to learn!

But it sounds that you will be up for the challenge!

First offence over 2.5 times the limit, I'd suggest around 18 to 21 month ban, fine is difficult to judge.

And the points hang around for a while.

We could criticise 'til the thread is full of cliches.

But let he who is without sin cast the first stone.

Keep your chin up.

Real hard luck fella.

I've driven under the influence before (drugs not drink) and it is something I would never ever do again. My only saving grace was that it was a two mile drive home and the lanes were very secluded.

I don't know how you're coping but try. You'll be back behind the wheel before you know it.

Chin up.

Rob,

Just been speaking to a friend of mine who has also been convicted of Drink Driving (first offense, clean license) and is currently attending the course.

I've obtained some examples of bans for you from other offenders at his course to give you a guide.

Limit is 35.

50 - 55 region - 12 month ban
69 - 16 month ban

87.5 seems to be the limit whereby you need to pass a medical before you get your license back. People over this tended to have recieved 2.5 - 3 year bans.

100 - 3 year ban

The bans can all be reduced by 25% by attending the rehabilitation course.

Hope this helps and good luck.

Been there done that.... Same circumstances, jumped in car after argument with girlfriend - no excuse though.
Got stopped on a routine check.
4 years ago now but got a big shock when I found out it was a mandatory 12 month ban. I was expecting 3 months or maybe just a big fine.

My reading was only 54 so not as high, received the 12 month ban and a £350 fine. Solicitor cost me £250, couldn't get legal aid due to earnings - Have you enquired about that??
