Time ticking??
Discussion
Ok, a while ago a friend of mine got caught for speeding twice in about 3 weeks way back in April.
Once by a scamera van on the M4 (doing about 60odd in a 50 I think), and then on a Motorway by a traffic cop doing somewhere in excess of 70!
The second case cost 3points and fine, sent license off etc and have had it returned.
My friend decided to let the 1st case go to court, sent the form back saying he was the driver, and therefore then ignored the fixed penalty request form.
Nothing has been heard from the court/police/dvla, so whats going on??
Is it just a matter of time before a summons drops through the letterbox?
Is there any tine limit?

They have six months from the date of the offence to lay papes before the court. He may have got lucky this time. His best course of action is to do nothing for a few more weeks and then enquire if papers have been laid once it's well and truly timed out.....
Unless DvD disagrees, in which case he knows better

Technically have to lay papers within 6 months from when the prosecutor becomes aware of sufficient evidence to prosecute. Typically that is the date of the offence but could be much later in cases where the offence is not discovered.
So would your advice be to just sit tight and keep fingers crossed??!!
I'm not sure i'm in the business of giving advice. It doesn't strike me that there is much else that he *can* do until a summons arrives.
If none arrives within 6 months of the offence, then he can breathe easier, and hope there is not a technicality.
If he wants to check for sure, he could ask if the case is marked for no further action, but he risks waking the slumbering dogs...
