Hi,

Wondered if anyone has good experiences of solicitors around Guildford way..

Dozy girlfriend was caught 100+ on A3 and needs to minimise fine/ban

Any recommendations are welcome..

Thanks :-)

Cant help as not from round those parts (but will be living there next year for my LPC, lovely place..)

I personally wouldnt spend a few hundred quid on a brief to give mitigation if I would be pleading guilty. You should help her prepare a statement for the court to explain why she needs her licence, the people that would be affected by her potential loss of licence, and the fact that if she is economically active hardship will be caused etc..

If shes not contesting this one, save the money for the solicitor for the fine and insurance increase...

If she feels she really needs legal representation, get to court early on the day and seek out the duty brief and see if he will take her case on for mitigation..

Be warned this hardship defence can only be used once every so often (4 years maybe?) so if she gets nicked again, itll deffers be a ban.

Best of luck..

Two words: plea bargain.

I got lasered at (allegedly) 104 on the A3, but the CPS eventually settled for 95, and I got a £200 fine and 5 points, which didn't affect my insurance.

My solicitor was Robert Dobson of Pryce Woodrow in Sutton, Surrey (01737 357010), and I'd definitely recommend him. He did the bargaining for a fixed fee, then I went to court and represented myself, so no huge legal bill.
