HPI does not give owner details, purely information relating to the CAR, ie chassis number, reg date, outstanding finance etc

No details regarding the owners name, address are held

I bought something from this guy and he hasn't sent the goods. I sent him a bank transfer and don't know his address. I have the reg of his car the part come from though. If I get his address I can open up a small claims court action against him

Why not just go to the bank and get them to refund you the amount, if you have the recieveing account number the rest is all down to them.

If you paid for something and have not recieved the item surely the bank can deal??

Edited: just because you have the registration mark doesnt mean its registered to him!

They bank can't help me as the money has already gone to him. I know the registration of 3 of his cars, he must own one of them

But they can recover the money from his account. I dont think that the reason you gave will be valid to get the registered keepers details.

Maybe going through the police may be an option??

Sounds like a a simple case of gaining money by deception on his part. Report it to the Police. Its what you pay your taxes for.

DVLA will readily hand out details for the measly sum of £2.50 - virtunally no questions asked.

Out of curiosity....

How did you get his address if you only had his name from the electrol roll? Because i would have thought that it would be unlikely to return 1 result frm a 1st name and surname unless its extreamly rare?
