It's actually my brother who got caught speeding on an empty (no excuse I know!) M62 in the early hours of 13th August 2005, he got clocked at 119 mph!

Anyway he only got the ticket through the post a couple of days ago, and it was dated 3rd november?!?

I was led to believe they had to contact you within 30 days or something similar, is that correct or is he going to get the book thrown at him regardless?

Was he stopped at the time by the police?

See here: www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&f=57&t=225786 or, better, could a mod move the original thread to this forum?

Much confusion in your post ands grounds for assumptions N.

If he was stopped at the time and verbally NOIP'ed and reported then presume 'ticket'just received is the summons for Court which is almost madatory above 96 mph. Normal practice.

But if he is the Reg Keeper and has been for some time with no change of address for the vehicle and this is the first paperwork i.e. NOIP which has to be served within 14 days, ignoring the date of the offence and accompanied by a request to namer and shame the driver then you have grounds to stop any conviction for speeding.

But if not the Reg Keeper, then was NOIP sent and received by reg Keeper within that time scale and later passed on? If so back to square one.
