If you enjoyed Hughiescop's post, have a look at this.

It's a blog by a Police Officer, who is probably a little more right leaning than I am, but far to the left of StreetCop.

Anyhoo, some of it makes interesting reading, the rest of it's just plain funny.

...and he gets away with saying stuff that the BiB on here may from time to time think, but wouldn't get away with posting...

The site is very close to the mark Paul, but i must admit that the guy (whoever he is!) very much reflects my own views. Unfortunately i am very much watching what i say on this and other sites from now on....

I'll offer some debate and stuff, but i've heard horror stories lately of PC's being in the poo for posting 'opinion' over the Internet....

I hate having to bite my tongue, but i just don't want to take the risk. It does happen and we are all watched. I'll still visit regularly and enjoy the site as much as i always have, but will just be posting less....

The thought police watching this site should be out catching criminals - an utter waste of resources

No better then the Stazi!

I noticed one of his links is to www.police.uk.

There I noticed that we can report "hate crimes". I found a definition of these and other similar "crimes" under "Welcome to Non-Emergency Crime and Hate Crime / Incident Reporting":

description_hate_crime.asp said:
Hate Crimes and Hate Incidents
You can use this service to tell us about the following types of crime or incident:

Hate Crime
Any hate incident, which constitutes a criminal offence, perceived by the victim or any other person, as being motivated by prejudice or hate.

Hate Incident
Any incident, which may or may not constitute a criminal offence, which is perceived by the victim or any other person, as being motivated by prejudice or hate.

Racist Incident
Any incident which is perceived to be racist by the victim or any other person.

Homophobic Incident
Any incident which is perceived to be homophobic by the victim or any other person.

Transphobic Incident
Any incident which is perceived to be transphobic by the victim or any other person.

Faith Related Incident
Any incident which is perceived to be based upon prejudice towards or hatred of the faith of the victim or so perceived by the victim or any other person.

Sectarian Incident
Any incident which is perceived to be sectarian by the victim or any other person.

Disablist Incident
Any incident which is perceived to be based upon prejudice towards or hatred of the victim because of their disability or so perceived by the victim or any other person.

Is this for real? I "perceive" something to be based upon prejudice, and therefore by these definitions it is. Is this site for real?

Yes, things are now racist if someone perceives them as being racist.

Which is absolute tosh, because I've met people who yell "racism" as a first defence on *anything*. "You only arrested me for murdering those six people because I'm black you racist".

I think the bloke who stuck the Axe in the black guy's head should be treated the same as anyone else who sticks axes in a person's head. Massively upping sentences because someone thinks it racist or even because it is racist is ludicrous.

It is just pandering to a group of voters (like the religious speech laws etc. they want to bring in).

People should be prosecuted for what they do, not what they 'think'. Especially with the warped Macpherson definitions of "race" and "racism". The possibility for abuse of thoughtcrime laws is horrifying.

The drivel on PC Dave's blog (the idiot graphic, not the blog itself which is excellent) is commonplace, not just in the Police. The amount of money wasted on this kind of mindless tosh is depressing.

I would suggest that any BiB who is involved in such activities should be sacked (discounting the poor s*ds who just have to listen to that kind of management-speak) or sent out on the beat or whatever. My experience (not in Policing) is that the people who preach that kind of nonsense usually have no practical skills at all.

I don't blame you at all. On our local newspapers messageboard I have had some extensive discussions with a senior PR guy from the local NHS trust who appears to check it and respond on their behalf. The posting rate is maybe a tenth of here.

Can't help thinking we'd be much better off sacking the cretins who monitor these boards and hiring a few more proper coppers. I bet the monitor morons get paid more than your average PC does as well. (There was a row here because our local "service" wanted to appoint someone to manage PR at about £125k)

I strongly suspect that if one of our resident BiB did post something that was either wrong, offensive or illegal, firstly the moderator would have something to say, but his fellow BiBs would pick him up on it.
