I was just wondering what punishment I would receive from the law if I was caught in my car doing 200mph on an empty motorway.
Would I get fined/custodial sentance/car confiscated/etc.

All reply's appricated

Custodial without a doubt. Hope you are never in the position to find out for sure...

Several high profile cases in the last few years would suggest a not-insignificant stay at Her Majesty's Pleasure, and maybe a big fine too.

Unless you've hired Nick Freeman, in which case you might have a slim chance

It depends how you were caught I suppose!

At that speed you would outrun the T5's and the police helicopters and I dont *think* that even some of the laser guns capture that speed.

You would also cover enough distance to fool a gatso too.

I recommend if you do see any BiB just keep going til the border Thelma and Louise style.

Either that or do a General Lee jump over a river and leave the local police cars to skid into the water.

Probably charged with dangerous driving, if convicted, fined and disqualified for minimum 12 months then extended retest to get your licence back.

Custodial is possible for dangerous, up to 2 years on indictment. I’d suggest 3 to 6 months would be possible by way of setting an example.

Your car would not be confiscated.

If you were stopped in the Met, you'd be arrested but, the administration unit who deals with traffic process would leave your case so long that it ran out of time and finally you'd receive an anonymous letter starting 'Dear Mr Speeder' telling you that no further action would be taken against you, however speeding is very naughty and you mustn't do it.

So, fire up that engine and fill your boots

Capt,
Firstly - welcome to Piston Heads.......

Secondly - ALL traffic related work is delt by its own dedicated process section down in deepest Sidcup, so the majority of it now gets delt with.
Thirdly - under the new powers of arrest if I caught a speeder doing 200mph I would proberly arrest you and send you straight to court the following day.
Finally - By reading some of your threads I'm guessing you to are in the Job ??. (My Tunnel PR officer will answer your reply on lack of traf pols over xmas) NO I AM NOT BTP !!!!

Firstly - thank you very much, Im enjoying it so far

Secondly- if i provided a suitable name and address what powers would you use to keep me in custody?

Thirdly - how many tunnels are in the Met area and which ones exactly do you patrol - cetainly not all of them?

Lastly - Sidcup cant keep up and you know it!!

So you drive through tunnels??? Big deal - get a real life. You need to get out and get some fresh air, boy! I am assuming from your posts that you are a serving officer who is either new to traffic or hasnt quite made it into the department yet. Ive heard about you in the canteen and I now know what they mean.

Tell that to the 60 odd cars that Turned up on Boxing day for the Tunnel run, the 60 that turned up at 5am for the dawn raid and the 50 odd that turned up for the last Midnight run, in fact why not join us and we'll convert you as well.

Boy, Boy ? what backwater did you crawl out of, if you are BIB, and i hope your not, there's enough stereo type plod around as it is that get a slagging off on here, and rightfully so.

Besides, plenty of fresh air on the run round to each tunnel roof off, rain or shine !!

If you'd heard of him in the canteen you'd know that;

He's not new to Traffic, has made it to traffic and has currently a shed load more credibility on here than someone that sounds like he's got a maccaroon stuck up his arse, now might i suggest you dont come in here bitching about what you clearly know feck all about !

Oh, and welcome aboard.

Hmmmmmm, Capt Pugwash,
Yes I am a serving Traffic officer with 3 and a bit years in the department but as you have heard about me in the canteen you must know who I am unless you are just full of hot air, if you have been in a canteen then what you have heard about me is all true !!!

Don't really care who you are, but my advice to you is go and input on another site, because with comments like yours mate you certainly won't be welcomed by many on here.
