Red light cameras, idiot bus driver
Discussion
Hello, travelling through Nottingham on Friday lunch time when I approached a set of traffic lights. Just before the lights a stupid bus drifted over into my lane a bit so I naturally focused my attention on him, as I had to swiftly move into the other lane which was empty (lucky) to avoid the fool. The back of the bus at this point was just off to the front left of my car.
However, a split second after this I look up and notice the lights have turned to amber. As I crossed the line the lights must have just turned red, too dangerous to slam on the anchors. I look back in my mirror and realise that there is a camera situated looking over the lights, one of the red light gatsos.
I was wondering if anyone knows whether or not I am going to be getting a NIP in the post for this? I must have crossed the line just as the lights were finishing the amber phase but due to the w****r bus driver who nearly drove into me my focus went from the lights to him.
Do the cameras have a set time after the red light comes on when they begin snapping or am I done for??
Many thanks for any advice anyone can offer at this time.

Did you notice if it flashed or not? If it didn't then I would think you are OK. They normaly give a second or two after the red before they flash.
Sorry didn't notice this as I only checked my mirror a bit further down the street. Too busy watching the dic****d bus driver!!

Lieber funkiest robotic one - I think to relax here. I think possibly OK. Go back und look at road - you will see some trig mechanisms under tarmac if I think correctly. This ist the loop which feed to camera for photo if I remember what I read on Speed Trap Bible on topic.
Also Steve Warren's UK Speed Trap UK explain how they work as well. Go take gander und check whether I remember correctly as some time since I read all this now - und ist top of head recall without a check back-see!
Und hope ist OK for you!
Wildcat refers to the induction loop in the road surface.
You can spot them easily enough with the outline of tar in a rectangular shape immediately in front of the white line at the junction.
If you were over that point when the light changed, you're going to be fine. If you weren't, you're going to be fined.
I've lived in Nottingham for the past 6 years, but I probably won't be here for the 7th.
Be warned, when it comes to driving in Nottingham, DO NOT speed. DO NOT try to jump lights. DO NOT think that any bus or taxi driver operates his/her vehicle with their eyes open or their brain in anything but neutral.
Out of interest, where was this?

Near the total garage, near the club called Lost Weekend I think. Its the set of lights on the one way loop just before you go past the ice arena on the right of you. Its the big four or five lane road, I was in lane two I think.

Going around the back of the Ice Arena down towards London Road?
If that's the place, the sort of thing you describe is common place. As you go down there, there's a bus garage and a couple of side roads. Other bus drivers regularly pull across other road users in order to let their mates out of the side roads or give access to the garage. In addition to that, there's people changing lanes for the upcoming roundabout onto London Road - five lanes dropping to two for London Road, two for Derby (?) Road and one to cut off to the right of the roundabout.
You can't drive through this town without being wide awake .... remember it's not your mistake that causes the crashes - it's every other numpty on the road that you have to allow for.
