I was driving south on the M6 in the dark at 56mph, catching up in lane 2 was something the size of a Transit (i thought)travelling at about 60-65mph, it came past and it was a Police Range Rover.
There was nothing in front for 500-600 yards he should IMO have pulled in to lane 1 but he did`nt he stayed in lane 2.
If BiB sits in lane 2 instead of "keeping left" its time to give up.....

Next time : flash him over and talk him through the relevant section in the highway code. that should get his attention ..

I hate lane hoggers as much as the next man, the only exception being if there is nothing behind you then why not sit in lane 2?

It's a better lane in terms of road surface with no HGV ruts like lane one.

You can see when anyone starts approaching again and move over well in advance. I guess he had nothing behind him?

The trick is to take his reg number and call the cops. Let them know what he is doing and let them deal with it. I have done this on a couple of occasions when one particular (same guy 2 occurances) plonker parked at the end of the slip road at J16 on the M6.

same guy 2 occurances? Sounds like what the cops did was a big bugger all then.

You sure it wasn't one of these highways agency guys? Doesn't sound like a policeman's driving to me.

All well and good if you actually do move over in advance, or indeed at all - but seriously, how many people in the middle lane actually move over AT ALL?

I believe he got a bollocking it was bloody dangerous what he did, traffic car too. The occurances were a few weeks apart and after that he moved some distance up the hard shoulder. I did however point out that if there were an accident involving the idiot I would be going to the Daily Mail with my story and pushing the Murder angle, that seemed to do the trick.
