just wondering if anyone on here could clarify something for me.
with the old MOT system, if you took your car in a couple of weeks early, and it failed, you'd take you car away to fix it, and carry on driving, as long as it wasn't in a dangerous condition. if you then got pulled over by mister plod, and given a producer, on paper, your car would still be legal.

i've been told ( by a tester) that with the new system, once your car has failed an MOT, its logged on the computer as a failed MOT.
so if you are pulled, and it comes up on the trafpols computer that you've failed your MOT, but still have a couple of weeks left on your old one, how would you stand?

can they do you for not having a valid MOT, or does the fact that you have your old, valid one, still count?

I though the old system was once it had failed thats it - its failed. You can only drive it to a garage to be fixed or a MOT station for an MOT. Would have thought the same of the new MOT.

someone correct me if i'm wrong?

yes, but on the old system, no one knew you'd failed apart from you and the garage, and if you got pulled, you could just show your still in date MOT.
