Earlier today we were parked up on a break near a certain Police Traffic HQ... *Cough* Cannon Park, Middlesbrough *Cough*

Trafpol Cars came & went, ANPR van came in from an Op, followed by a couple of unmarked Skodas as it usually is.

What really caught my eye was that the marked cars all drove carefully without exception, whereas the unmarked cars were all booted fairly hard in a 30 limit, up to 50 i would estimate. They were all returning to base, not heading out on patrol.

Is it commonplace for Occiffers to have a sly blat in an unmarked car ?

Before anyone gets uppitty, this is not a dig

I guess it would be, but guess what happens when you get caught out.

The black Accord type R we discussed a while ago was spotted by several of us driving in a manner not up to what we expect from a police advanced driver.

This is getting curious.....

well, volvos70t5 seems to think that nothing should happen because Reg 87 gives a blanket exemption from speed limits.

Did somebody call?

I don't actually happen to think S87 offers a blanket exemption.

Milton claimed he was familiarising himself with a new vehicle. Clearly he couldn't try that excuse if the car had been on the fleet for a few months. So, like lots of things, it depends on the circumstances.

With respect, Zod, you are just narked that you wouldn't have a chance of getting away with it if you got caught at that speed.

You should work in the law, volvo. That's a cracker of a distinction you've made. Anyway, I'm glad to see that you don't believe Reg 87 gives a blanket exemption, becasue that has been my impression from several of your posts on the Milton case.

edit:

You are right: I do find myself strangely irked by this case. I think I just don't like his face. I've never even been stopped by the Police, never had a point on my licence or had to pay any fine other than the Kengestion Supertax and a couple of parking penalties.

Zod

Sorry if I wasn't clear. Allowing a blanket exempton would be wrong. Allow coppers to nip back from the doughnut shop at double quick time - I don't think so.
