Is it just me that has noticed the huge amount of people who go through the lights when they are just tipping over to red? It happens to me almost every day going to uni. I will be indicating to turn right in the middle of the road. Usually its quite busy so I dont get to cross until the lights change. But because of the idiots who go through the red lights, I have to reverse so that I'm not stuck in the middle of the road!

Doesn't half annoy me, and I've noticed more and more people going through the lights. It must make their journey SO much shorter!

Please note, when I say middle of the road, I don't mean right in the way of traffic! I mean in the correct position, but in the centre of the junction

I've noticed it happens a lot with buses, this can be very annoying if its a busy junction and it takes up all the remaining space!

Either you have to sit in middle of junction or reverse back!

happens surprisingly often with Police panda cars in Wrexham area - perhaps something to do with the quadrupling of traffic lights with bizarre timing over the last 3 years

Maybe it's because most traffic lights aren't phased properly or phased to let more than a few cars over at a time. When lights go green by the time most pratts have thought about putting the car in gear and moving away, the lights start go back to red again.

Indeed, it really does sometimes feel as if the timing of the lights has been arranged to delay and frustrate drivers as much as possible, hence the increased temptation for drivers to cheat.

I know we need reasonable timing, phasing, overlaps etc. to produce a safe arrangement, but some installations do create excessive delays, especially where pedestrian crossing facilities are combined in the same system.

Best wishes all,
Dave.

Most of the lights around here in Leeds are on for quite a while though. When I have noticed it they have usually been green for a while. Quite a few of the taxi drivers are doing it.
