Has anyone been prosecuted recently in this section? I saw them flash last night at about 12am. I've never seen danger like it

Are they live or aren't they?

Slow down to the limit shown and don't take the chance.

Whilst unboubtedly sound advice, that doesn't actually answer my question...

There was no limit showing at just past midnight this morning.

Whoever sets the variable limit signs is clearly a comedian. Last week they seemed to change at random between 40, 50, 60 and NSL. No incidents, heavy traffic, nothing. I reckon they must have had a trainee on, being shown how to change the signs!

I think it's always been a bit like that. Those limit signs (the dot matrix ones) that have been about for years usually bear no resemblance to reality - and that means that people start to ignore them.

I've not been on the M25 ones but I have on the M42 ones and they're bloody dangerous IME

I went through the whole section at 40mph the other week, at 8:30 at night .. .. .. .. .. .. the motorway was empty, only the odd truck and a few cars but not the usual par park ive seen on the M25 and even then there was no lower speed limit .. .. .. .. fund generator?

My mate has just started working for the highways agency.....

I always keep to the limit showing just incase, even if its otherwise safe to make progress.

As I've said before, watch out for the 60 - 50 - 60 combo ... the 50 can easily look like a 60 because you're expecting it to be 60! Especially bad where the gantries are close together (e.g. near A30 t/o clockwise) - Streaky

I hope you keep left and let faster traffic pass.

I keep 10 mph over and never get any trouble.

Plenty of locals seem to queue up to fly past me.
