NIP for 32 in a 30!
Discussion
Don't believe it. That would be Hampshire's SCP and although they are a complete bunch of tosspots (I am a Hants Officer) even they don't ping people for that speed. Please keep us posted on this. If you could give precise details, I'd be tempted to give the winkers a ring. For my own protection - I live not that far away!

Just found out from a colleague that his daughter has received a NIP for doing 32 in a 30 limit in Farnborough.
Is this a one-off case of camera triggering too low, or is there a general trend towards ever lower trigger speeds?
Would that be on the DC as you come from Aldershot/North Camp with scamera van parked up on the approach to the roundabout?

Erm no JonRB actually where you have pictured is the approach from Camberley along the dual carriageway.
billnomates was talking about the one where you come from Aldershot. there is some hardstanding outside the Rushmoor council offices...

As said before I look forward to seeing this, and if its true, my advice would be fight it on the grounds of uncalibrated Speedo, an uncalibrated Speedo is normally accurate to within 2mph so there you have 32.
Whose uncalibrated speedo are we talking about, lambo ?
Not one belonging to the BiB because she was scamera'd.
Not hers because, by law, motor manufacturers have to ensure their speedos do not under-read - most these days seem to have tolerances of actual speed plus 5% to plus 10%. If she was pinged at 32 then chances are her speedo was reading more like 35.
AIUI, that's where the margin of error / prosecution threshold is derived- 10% represents our error and plus 2mph represents theirs...
Whilst the offence of excess speed is absolute (30.1 is a 'crime'), the world's gone mad when they start prosecuting for 32, IMHO...

Send a copy to Paul Smith at SafeSpeed and he'll take it from there. Apparently he has heard of these 'just over' NiP's, but has never actually seen one at less than limit +10% + 2mph (i.e. 35 in a 30). He would be delighted to see one, I'm sure.
Indeed I would delighted. But copies of these things never turn up...
Don't forget in scientific principles the greatest degree of accuracy which one can read an analogue instrument like a speedometer is +/- half of the minor division.
Therefore in the very common case for a speedo where the minor divisions are in 5mph increments, the maximum accuracy which this can be read is indicated velocity +/- 2.5mph. Anything more precise is only an estimate, nothing more.
Of course we could go back to a much more pragmatic times when a wise old inspector said Limit plus 10% plus 10 mph so they must have known they were speeding.
Closely followed by, so if you pursue someone solely on the ground that they are speeding and that this is a danger to the public, then you've just doubled the danger to said public.
On this I'm with Safespeed, these 31 and 32 in a 30 never seem to materialise.

I saw my colleague again this lunchtime and have given him a fair old grilling on this subject.
He says the NIP issued to his daugher is definitely for 32 in a 30 (though I'll wait until I see it before I believe it myself!). I've asked him to get me a photocopy or a scan of it from his daughter, which he is going to try and do. I am also going to give him Paul's email address to pass on so that she can get directly in touch with Paul if she'd like to get Safespeed involved. I don't know her personally so I won't presume to take action on her behalf.
People were right about the location, it was a mobile unit on the Farnborough Road.
Thanks xxplod, I'll PM you the details as soon as I see the NIP and confirm that it's 32. That's if I get her permission.
Thanks for the interest shown in this. I'm trying to get my colleague, and through him the daughter, to kick up as much fuss as possible about this as I reckon it's something the press would have a field day with. I hope this does turn out to be a 32-in-a-30 or I will be very embarrassed, having raised the matter purely on hearsay! Paul, I very much hope this time something concrete can be provided for you, though I understand your initial cynicism.
I've already advised my colleague to get his daughter to request both the photographic evidence (as an aid to identifying the driver, naturally) and the name and number of the police officer who formed prior opinion of speed before using the corroborating equipment; and directed them towards the Pepipoo and Safespeed websites.
Lambo Cop, hope to prove you wrong, though I would almost be happier if it turns out that Hampshire SCP are NOT pinging people at 32.
More info as and when it becomes available.
