Anyone else thinking about getting slower / less powerful machines as result of the oppressive new laws & big brother technology?

I know I am considering it - but what about you lot?

Hi Carl

Er no, not getting rid of the sportscar (ever).

However if I ever get to 9 points I would consider changing my everyday luxobarge to a Smart (Slow and easy to park in town next to the pub).

If I were to loose my licence I am lucky in that I could choose to work abroad. So the overall effect Tony Blah and Gordo can go and fcuk themselves.

Must admit the thought had crossed my mind, had to drive the wifes Ibiza 1.2 into work today (trying to save the petrol in the Impreza for the trip to Grimsby this afternoon). The journey took only slightly longer than normal and was far less stressfull due to me not wanting to overtake everything in site (and not able too anyway!!). Quite a pleasant ride which makes a change. Now thinking about ditching my car in favour of a D**sel and getting something ridiculous for the weekends and trackdays.

My thoughts exactly!

Carl, don't let them beat you, ignore the morons in government and buy something faster - you know it makes sense.

I’d only swap my car for a quicker one. If (when) I get banned for a long stretch, the TVR and I will be going abroad for a while to somewhere with better weather and no Gatsos.

TSS, the problem being that there are;-
a) speeders
b) mega-speeders.

Speeders do 40 in a 30, 50 in a 40, and 65-85 on NSL roads.

On the other hand, the mega-speed does 30 in a 30. 40 in a 40, and up to 160 on NSL when it's nice & clear.

You can guess who they send to jail, and who only gets points. Yes, it's obvious. Points to those who speed round town, and jail for those who give it some where it is perfectly safe.

I can see where you're coming from. For me driving is a hobby, I live far too central to worry about driving day to day.

Having spent the last few days visiting relatives etc and driving around, I'm find it far far too easy to speed.

I'm just waiting for that tap on the shoulder. My licence has been clean far too long.

That said whenever I slow for roadworks, or in villages/towns, I always get some numpty up my 4rse, who then drives at 50mph on the dual carridge way, annoying!!
