Speed camera on M27?
Discussion
There is often a police vehicle doing checks sitting on the roundabout at the junction with the M271, targetting vehicles travelling west bound coming down the hill. It is close to their base at Lyndhurst so they while away the time waiting for their shift to end. They have been known to do it at 5am.
I got done there 6 years ago, fair cop I suppose, they claimed I was doing 92mph but I reckon low eighties at the most.
There is one thing I find puzzling. I saw them and slowed. As I went under them I was down to 70mph and continued at that speed. They had not moved at that point so had to go half way round the rounndabout, down the slip road and onto the motorway. When they caught up with me the BIB said 'we had to do over 90 to catch up with you'. What was the purpose of that, it's obvious that if I was doing 70, and had a start on them, they would have to do that speed to catch me before the next exit? What should my response, if any, have been?
