There is a large goods yard behind some shops that I wanted to go to recently, with double yellow lines all the way round the outside edge of the yard. But because the yard is so huge (I'd say approx 10-12 car widths wide) I could easily park my car in the centre of the yard without causing an obstruction.

My question is, does anyone think I could get a ticket for parking there despite being at least 4 car-widths from the nearest double yellow lines?

Goods Yard?

Private property ?

Yellow lines put down by yard owners?

Not a road?

No Traffic Order can be placed on private property?

We deserve to know......

I think it's council owned as i didn't notice any signs and it's between some street-front shops and the back of a shopping centre mall.

perhaps its meant to be left clear so delivery trucks can manouvre around. if they wanted you to park there, i'm sure there wouln't be yellow lines.

Almost 100% it is private property, even if owned by the council. It would therefore be outside the warden's jurisdiction.
