Was woken this morning by the sound of hammering and banging, due to workmen putting a new roof on neighbours garage at 5:30am

Naturally, I was not happy about this.

Is there a law to not cause noise between 11pm and 7am ?

It looks like the job is not finished, so if I can catch them at it again tomorrow, I will be having serious words

Well out of order tbh, I thought work couldn't begin until either 8 or 9am?

I once complained about some workers for the local water company, as they had been starting work at about 7.30. I complained to their site foreman when he turned up and he told me that they are not allowed to start work before 8am.

Phone the council, I'mn sure it's illegal and that 8.00 is the normal kick off time or thereabouts. FFS who gets up at 5 anyway?

Spare a thought for the poor blokes working out there. In this hot weather they probably wanted to get some work done in the coole morning air before the day warmed up.

Always somebody complaining about something or other.

Ever notice how workers/builders always start really early (usually with a loud, slightly out-of-tune radio on an awful local station), but by about 10.30 have always packed up and gone home??

I don't think I would be too impressed.

You can politely ask your neighbour to sort it out when you get home?

There is no restriction on the time they can start work, I'd rather they started early and got the job done over less days rather than drag it out.
Oh, I started at 7 this morning and have just got home, early as it's friday, no Building site I've ever been on has finished at 10.30!

What a crock! 7.30 til 5.30 usually for builders.
