My tax ran out end of last month. I have a new tax disc, but require a spanner and allen key to install the new disc in the holder.

Is it illegal to continue to display the old tax disc whilst having the new one to hand whilst driving the car? Anyone with a valid reason to check the disc will be shown it, and I don't intend parking/leaving the vehicle unattended on Brenda's highway.

In years gone by, I wouldn't have bothered asking, but we are now way past the jobsworth threshold - that point at which I'm likely to be spotted by some joyless bastard with too few hobbies!!

Cheers

Paul

Leave the new one on the dash...so long as the offence isn't "displaying an invalid tax disc" and there's an over-zealous warden about...

I've sometimes idly wondered about displaying multiple number plates. If you had a van you could probably put 40 or 50 different ones on the back. It would certainly confuse the scamera operators.

Dont worry.

Your on DVLA records of having a Licence so no probs ANPR.

As stated of you can with some security tape the new one in the front nearside window of the vehicle or carry it if a motor cycle.

Calling Allen KEY ......job for you.

As far as I know, it's legal.

Theres a website somewhere where someone has done some testing with a camera that's same as those used by the Kengestion Charge.

Apparently 3 plates on the front s the automated system right up as the software doesnt know which one is which.

So I guess they'll be highlighted for a humanoid to look at. But I guess if all your plates refer to a vehicle of the same make, model and colour...they're fecked.

Would any of you Traffic BiB pull someone over if more than one plate was displayed? What would you do us for if you did pull us over? Perverting course of Justice? Interfering with a police officer in the course of his/her duty??

Fantastic scam and better than the one MAD are aiming at...I gather they want us all to obscure our numbers. How much better to all display several!! ;-)

Cheers,
J.

Now it is all computerised and DVLA updated automatically, why do we still have to display a tax disk? Seems a bit daft to me.
