does anyone know whether the gantry cameras on the M25 from J11 ish to 16ish are operative all the time or only when a reduced speed limit is in force.

Same question for M42 and all other Mways come to think of it

I've been through them at... well above 70 and as far as I know the driver hasn't heard anything.

edit: Even in reduced limits.

Yes - they can operate when no variable limit is shown (ie NSL in force). The trigger point is not published.

Can we get the repost police in?

The second gantry south of the M40 (or first if you come off the M40) tends to flash around 80mph, but I've never heard of anyone getting a ticket (including me!)

Not gone over 80mph in unrestricted periods, on M42 and not seen anyone doing much faster.

Why take the chance ?

That camera was broken for some time and would flash anything that moved.

tend to assume they are live cameras and treat them as such

Have passed these cameras at about 100 mph repeatedly over several years, never gone off. My driver's info now about 2 years out of date tho.
